We stayed at Gateway Chikmagalur for 3 nights and 4 days with two families, occupying two rooms. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing and not what we expected from a Taj-branded property. The property is quite old—probably around 20 years—and shows its age. It’s relatively small with very limited things to do on-site. For what we paid (₹82,000 for 2 rooms, averaging ₹13–14K per room per night), it did not feel like value for money at all. One of the biggest letdowns was the service. The restaurant seemed extremely understaffed, with just 2–3 people managing everything, leading to very slow service during all our meals. Room service was also delayed and not up to the mark. That said, the staff were always polite and courteous, which was the one positive aspect of our stay. Overall, the experience was average and certainly not up to Taj standards. We would not recommend this property, especially at the current pricing—it simply doesn’t offer the comfort, service, or experience you'd expect from a premium brand.
