The pub was very busy which is always a good sign. We had an 8.30pm booking got there early luckily as we were then told last orders were at 8.30pm, this made no sense to us and made the evening feel slightly rushed. The service from the upping staff was excellent very professional. The food was very good quality which you’d expect for £24 for pie & mash. The menu is quite limited for a vegetarian particularly if vegan. Everything is made fresh, and it was great that the fish pie could be made without prawns. It was frustrating that we were unable to order additional fries as the kitchen had closed. Three of us had the pre and the portions of veg was quite different on each plate - again probably due to the kitchen closing. Good food good service just a few minor frustrations

Booked ahead to eat here. Disappointed with the limited menu. There were specials of the day. The service was efficient and friendly. The food when it came ok. It wasn’t a memorable experience unfortunately and there are much better pubs with interesting menus.

We had an amazing one night stay at The Horse & Groom. The room was beautifully decorated with extra little touches. We ate in the restaurant and the food was outstanding. The staff were attentive and were excellent in the way that they dealt with my husbands allergies. Would highly recommend.

This was the second time within a couple of months that we have stayed here. On both occasions the whole experience was excellent. The room was very comfortable, the food was first class and every member of staff were friendly and helpful. The whole stay was delightful. Would highly recommend to stay and dine here.

Considering we chose to stay here based on reviews as old as two months ago I fear something has changed in between. Customer service at meal times didn’t justify the 12.5% service charge, I have had better at a burger van. The food was overpriced and I have come away feeling like a mug for paying it. Dried chicken salad and chips £24! Starter and dessert £12.50 each but were much tastier and well presented. Beer garden was lovely. Absolutely the quintessential English country pub. If you’re coming for a drink and bag of crisps, fabulous. Bed for the night was sumptuous. Superking, nice. Waterfall shower, nice. Banging doors of other rooms, not so nice. Maybe invest in soft close hinges. Welcome on arrival, didn’t happen. Just shown to our room. Remember, WE chose YOU. Please show us we made the right decision! Breakfast - controlled consumption of drinks and extras. Customer service was lacking and not one check back at any point. If I had just tipped my purse out on the bar and walked away they would have been happier. I recommend for a drink and a nice bed. But not for food or feeling special in any way at all.
