Sonder Market Hall

No matter how much you love Sonder (and I do), their “Market Hall” property in the West Loop is a terrible choice for a weekend stay due to the awful noise of the nightclub that sits on the first floor and literally shakes the floors and walls with pounding music from 9 pm to 2 am from Thursday thru Saturday nights. And Sonder actually WARNS you about this in the (fine print) listing, if you bother to read all the way to the very end of the online profile for Market Hall rooms. Stay away. I missed the warning, booked Thursday-Sunday and the first night was so awful that we had to leave at 6 am and find another building. What is outrageous to me is that Sonder even offers the rooms for Thur＞Saturday, knowing full well that the noise level is unbearable. That is malpractice. Their profile says “white noise machine and earplugs available…”. Otherwise, Sonder units elsewhere in Chicago are great. Just NOT Market Hall.

Our Room/Apt was amazing! The place was clean and well stocked. Very spacious and very quiet. All communication is done through their app and it is very user friendly. Response is very quick if you have any complaints or needs. Will definitely stay there again.

The property has a wonderful layout updated appliance great view. I highly recommend Sonders for all visitors

The biggest problem - noises from the club and neighbors. Was heard every step, toilet flushing, cough, conversation of neighbors from next room. The club noise on Friday-Saturday was terrible till 2am

This could be a nice property but the night club in the building ruins it. Sonder was very helpful moving us to another floor. Literally our furniture was shaking. Get rid of the night club and this will be a great property. Sonder representatives were professional. If your room is on the second or third floor- the music goes until 2:30 am. The sound machines and ear plugs will not cover up the vibration.

This was definitely a home away from home for our few days in Chicago. Would definitely stay again.

There is a nightclub on the 1st floor and it made it impossible to sleep. The room was vibrating (we were on the 3rd floor) and our 1 year old couldn't sleep (nor could we). It looked good, was easy to check in, but absolutely horrible experience in the end, really too bad. Customer service claimed that there was a disclaimer on the website about the 'noise from the night club and they could provide sound machines or ear plugs'. First off, that disclaimer came after we booked, and is buried in legalese. It should be in bold on the top, as not only was there noise, the vibrations didn't stop. They tried to say it was not refundable, due to the disclaimer. Eventually made it ok, but still didn't get all our money back. We had to move out after 2 hours.

This hotel is directly above a nightclub that’s open until 2 am. The bed literally shook, even with earplugs it was loud. No insulation, no soft surfaces to absorb noise.

Best place you could stay, feels like you have your own apartment. Everything is extremely nice and it’s a great location. Bed is extremely comfy, check in is a bit difficult since there’s no front desk
