Deodhar ***or is truly a beautiful and cozy cottage in the lap of nature. Hanut, the *** of the house is a gregarious guy. He hooked us up with a local person who took us on a couple of hikes in Khajjiar. The staff at the cottage is great and they cook some lovely meals too. Not to forget Shadow the handsome English Pointer who gave us great company as well. A wonderful experience !!

Deodar ***or is located at a corner with beautiful scenetic beauty all around. To add to it Hanut and his staff took such good care of all of us. Yummy homely food and vibes. We enjoyed and rejuvenated ourselves during our stay. Thanks and hope to come again soon.

We were a group 5 families of 16 people staying in the bungalow for 3 nights last week. To start with, the location of the bungalow is tucked in a sequestered corner of a hilltop over looking the wide expansive Pir Panjal range of Himalayas without any visual obstruction. The beauty of the mountains make the place ethereal. The bungalow has a rich history of over 120 years as narrated by the owner Sardar Hanut Bal, who personally welcomed us and ushered in to the abode. The interior of the bungalow e***ates a old colonial architecture that of a British era with wooden floor to wooden stairs to wooden ceiling. The rooms were huge and so were the bathrooms. The bed, comforters and over all the quality of sleep was very good for sure. The place is well maintained and spruced up showcasing antiquities, heirlooms through art and sculptures and knickknacks. Norbulingka Thankgka art (Buddhist art form) adorns the Walls of the bungalow ***** side various other artefacts. The aesthetics specially portrayed at the dining hall is worth a mention. Mr Bal and his elderly mother lives in the property and personally takes care of their guests by ensuring nothing is amiss. They are absolutely non interfering although always available if required. The sub staff of the property Mr Raju and Mr Cha*** Singh ***** with Vishal does everything to make their guests happy and comfortable. The food is not too complicated yet extremely tasty. We loved every item that they dished out starting from a Chicken Curry, to kasrod (a local sabji made of young fern picked up during the jungle trail.) to various types of Paranthas, They were yummy, delectable and left us craving for more on the palate. One of the evenings, we had an exclusive Barbeque on the patio over their Webers Grill in the cool clime paired with scotch. Based on the suggestion of Mr Bal we hired a guide Mr Sonu Sharma, who took us into the Kalatop jungle for a trek through the wilderness. Roughly we walked for about 2 & half hours and it was thrilling!! We thoroughly enjoyed and we were extremely pleased with his service. We had a lovely time and we wished to stay back forever but then all good thing comes to an end as they say. We returned with sweet memories and we hope to go back someday God willing. Post scrip: The property has 2 real sober pet dogs. A Dober*** called Roger and a puppy of an English Pointer breed called Shadow. They were so very cute and so very friendly it requires a special mention. Thank you for making our stay comfortable and memorable.

View is superb. We took first floor rooms. The attached terrace is a gem. Wonderful sunshine in the morning for the morning tea. Breakfast is great and customisable. We met Mr Hanut Bal’s mother who was very welcoming. Don’t miss the bonfire in the evenings and please go for walks in the morning. We would love to go back one day

Absolutely wonderful stay. Most comfortable. The property is at an amazing vantage point from where you can sit and enjoy the most stupendous views of the beautiful pir panjal range. very courteous staff which made any request happen just the way we wanted it. like setting up a BBQ in the evening that too while it was raining by arranging foldable patio umbrellas. a special shoutout to Mr Hanut Bal for his amazing hospitality. he's a source of priceless info too about the place and things to do around. They also have 2 loving dogs who would just sit besides and make you wanna pet them and play with them the whole day. Overall a must for people seeking a comfortable home like stay amidst nature.

I had an amazing experience spending the last two days at Deodar ***or in Khajjiar with V***n & my teenage daughters. This beautiful home stay is conveniently located near Khajjiar meadows and Khajjiar lake. It's a heritage bungalow nestled in the serene Himalayan region, offering clean air and surrounded by healthy deodar trees—perfect for nature lovers and avid walkers. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, adorned with classical decor. Each room had a modern attached bathroom, ensuring convenience and comfort. The bungalow itself boasted marvelous scenery, visible from the expansive deck, veran***, and every room's window. One delightful highlight was the presence of a charming English pointer named Shadow, who kept us entertained throughout our stay. Nitin and Charan Singh, the caretakers, provided exceptional hospitality, taking great care of us. The home-cooked food was simply fantastic, and they made sure to cater to our teenage girls' preferences. Thanks to Hanut, our perfect host, who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction throughout our stay. Mr Bal we had a wonderful time at your serene abode. We all including the kids enjoyed a lot. Each and every aspect of the house , feel and service had touch of elegance, aristocracy & meticulousness .....We were a group of 17 including kids.....The best part of the stay was your support staff who did not have No to anything we wanted... especially catering to such a large group . We went to Dharamshala n Dalhousie.for our annual family break for a week. Instead of staying in a crowded touristy Dalhousie we stayed in a v.small hamlet called Khajjiar,wer except for a large beautiful meadow n lovely forests ( Himalayan Cedars,known as Deodar trees).there was nothing else. It was also at 6000 ft.so the climate was superb,v.cold in the evenings n nite n bracing all day long. All this,n the magestic Himalayas,in front of us,really made Khajjiar a place we all loved n enjoyed.But what made it most enjoyable,was the Bungalow in which we stayed. A heritage property,Deodar ***ore,owned by Hanut Singh Bal,too beautiful to even describe. Old colonial style ***ore, v.tastefully furnished & maintained to beyond perfection. Every need of the guest is anticipated n provided for. The caretakers Rajubhai n Charan Singh wer v.pleasant n willing,attending to all our needs,cooked delicious meals for the family n guided us on our itenerary . The location of the Bungalow n it's beautiful garden, is simply superb. Mountain range in front n the Khajjiar maedows down the hill makes it the v.best location in Khajjiar. The Bungalow has a v.colonial look. A lovely open terrace,then a full glass balcony,n then the lovely home,most tastefully done with graceful curtains,and lovely arteffects. Our short stay of 3-4 days was made magical thanks to our stay n the hospitality at Deodar ***ore.

Dear readers, I feel it's important to share my experience staying at a property in Khajjiar, Himachal Pradesh, and warn others to avoid booking it. My family and I visited this property, but unfortunately, our experience was ruined by the owner, Mr. Hanut Singh Bal. To be honest, I cannot recommend this property due to the hostile behavior of its owner. My sister and mother were threatened and physically charged by Mr. Bal, who also abused them while I was away from the property. It was truly shocking to witness such inappropriate behavior towards women, and it made me feel very uncomfortable. In my opinion, Mr. Bal's behavior was completely unacceptable, and I think he may be suffering from some form of mental illness, specifically Bipolar 2nd order. His lack of courtesy towards women and inability to communicate properly with guests was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. As for the property itself, it was just okay. The food served was not up to the mark, and overall, our stay was not enjoyable due to Mr. Bal's behavior. I would suggest that anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable stay in Khajjiar, Himachal Pradesh, should avoid booking this property. In conclusion, I urge you to take my experience into consideration before booking this property. Mr. Bal's inappropriate behavior towards women is concerning, and I would not want anyone to experience what my family and I went through. It's important to choose a safe and welcoming place to stay while traveling, and unfortunately, this property did not meet those criteria during our stay. Furthermore, we have obtained a copy of the FIR that was filed against Mr. Hanut Singh Bal and his property. Please feel free to contact us if you require any evidence to support our experience.
