Hostellerie Au Rendez-Vous des Amis

My wife and I searched online for somewhere to stay roughly half way between the channel tunnel and our destination in the Vanoise in the French Alps. The Hostellerie Au Rendez Vous des Amis came up and we booked a night on the way out and another on the way back. The Hostellerie is located in the little village of Chamarandes just outside Chaumont and is roughly 500Kms from Calais. It is situated close to the river Marne and only a short walk from the Champagne-Bourgogne Canal. It has its own small car park but there are further spaces just over the bridge. On arrival the owner, Frederick, made us very welcome and showed us to a very comfortable room. Fortunately we had pre booked dinner because they were fully booked. Dinner, with a choice of 4 things for each of 3 courses was very good, including some excellent salads. Again, the owner was very helpful, speaking very good English when we struggled with our French. We enjoyed a very comfortable night on both occasions. Breakfast, served in the bar area, was typical continental style – fresh croissants and bread, homemade jams, yoghurt etc. We would certainly recommend the Hostellerie as a stopover, conveniently situated and reasonably priced.

Accueil très sympathique, chambre propre et bien équipée. Le dîner excellent, le buffet du petit-déjeuner ou il ne manquait rien. Parking privé apprécié ainsi que d’avoir accepté notre petite chienne. Village calme avec la possibilité de faire de belles promenades « nature » Adresse à retenir

Accueil très cordial. Nous avons mangé en terrasse dans un cadre très joli avec tables bien espacées et au calme malgré que le restaurant soit complet. Apéritif au champagne excellent. Pour moi poisson du jour avec une multitude de légumes très parfumés. Plats délicieux et bien présentés. Vin blanc côte du Rhône top. Je vous conseille la brioche perdue en dessert excellente. Service efficace malgré le monde. Merci. On reviendra.
