Château de Razay

Lovely place to stay in the Loire. Beautiful secluded old Chateau, very quiet and peaceful but within easy distance by car to visit other Chateau. The owners are very helpful and make the effort to make you feel at home. The rest of the staff were super helpful and friendly. We had a beautifully renovated room - very comfortable and tastefully designed with a stunning view of the grounds and trees outside. The bathroom was massive, modern and spotless. The room had a fridge and a kettle. The restaurant was fabulous and highly recommended. I think there is a bar but we had drinks on the terrace each night listening to the birds. Breakfast is superb - fresh, delicious produce - amazing breads, meat, cheese, fruit, yoghurt, eggs on demand. We had a wonderful stay here and hopefully can return soon!

Beautiful accommodation and surroundings.our boys enjoyed jumping in the swim pool after a long journey. Our room was excellent and very comfortable. We stayed on a Sunday and the restaurant was closed. We went out for dinner and returned around 9.30pm and the bar area was closed. It looked lovely and would have been nice to sit and enjoy a drink.

The experience begins on the approach to the Chateau. It is quite a long driveway but the house is beautiful and the hydrangeas are very impressive. The room was large and modern and had a lovely view over the gardens. The bathroom was also large and very modern. We ate dinner in the restaurant and had a very modern (yes, again) French meal. An interesting selection of dishes and one was able to compose one’s own menu from the available dishes. Chef was doubling up on occasion as appears to be the current theme in all small family businesses. The wine list was reasonable and well priced. I liked the pricing of the menu too. The gardens are extensive and lovely but they will need to up their game with the maintenance of them. The parking was a short walk from the house. The chateau is very conveniently placed for visits to the big houses of The Loire. We will return.

We stayed at Chateau de Razay as our base to explore the Loire Calley for a few days. Great location. Our hosts were super nice and professional. Our accommodation was spectacular, rooms so tastefully done. We ate dinners in house which were amazing. Such a different experience to the general French fare. Breakfasts were great, had our choice of baguette or croissant, continental or cooked breakfast. Would highly recommend Chateau de Razay and would definitely stay again.

Visited here in May 2023 as part of a tour to Loire Valley chateaus. I spent four nights at this beautiful 15th century Chateau converted to a B&B. Is located out in the countryside, not very near any town, so there is complete solitude here. This B&B did not have air conditioning and the bathroom only had a tub with nothing to prevent water from going all over the place, so something to be aware of. Good that was not very hot during our stay so no big deal on no AC. The decor is dated, but the bed was comfortable. There is also a large outdoor pool on the grounds though I did not use that. They did have picnic tables outside to relax and enjoy a glass of wine at the end of a busy day touring. We ate two dinners at the Chateau de Razay and they were very good, including a wine tasting with a local sommelier. Breakfast was not much to choose from but enough to get you going for the day, though they would also make scrambled eggs or a muesli type dish if you wanted. Overall comfortable enough and very peaceful setting. Was a good central location for visiting 8-9 Chateaus in the region on our tour.

Nous sommes accueillis en début de soirée par un couple très occupé à plier des fiches sur les tarifs des vins proposés à table. Tellement affairés que monsieur continue son harassant travail pendant que madame débite ses informations le plus rapidement possible. Cependant, aucune information en chambre notamment sur le wifi. La chambre semble refaite depuis peu dans un camaïeu de marron mais sans aucune décoration. Une toile ou deux auraient été les bienvenues...celles des escaliers par exemple. La literie est de très bonne qualité mais les oreillers sont très durs. Plateau de courtoisie et autre mini-bar sont proposés. La salle de bain, en pierre, est un peu vieillotte mais la grande baignoire supporte 2 personnes. Bémol pour la poubelle de salle de bain dont la pédale est cassée. Le petit-déjeuner propose des produits de qualité mais manque de produits comme du jus d'oranges...plus d'oranges d'après ce qu'on nous a dit, la machine à boisson délivre des boissons tièdes, les baguettes étaient de la veille, pas d'œufs brouillés et encore des serviettes de table, en lin, totalement chiffonnées. Le parking est loin de l'entrée donc prévoir de décharger ses bagages avant de se garer au parking.
