We initially secured a week-long reservation with Sky Apartments Catania City Center, commencing on July 17th. As fate would have it, a last-minute delay on the 14th meant we needed to modify our plans. We proposed what seemed like a straightforward solution: to have my brother, a law enforcement officer, collect the keys on our behalf. In 2023, many accommodations worldwide have adopted flexible key collection methods, such as pin code boxes or granting permission to trusted third parties. However, the owner of the apartment rejected our request, insisting on the traditional, yet less accommodating requirement of personally verifying our identities and the exact number of occupants. Given the circumstances, my wife and I exhibited understanding, rebooking our stay to start on the 18th. We were willing to adapt to the apartment owner's policy, even though it meant adjusting our own plans. Yet, further difficulties arose on July 16th, as a significant fire incident closed Catania International Airport until the 19th. This unforeseen disaster was absolutely out of our control, prompting us to contact the apartment owner once again. This time, we requested a refund due to these extraordinary and unavoidable circumstances. Regrettably, our request for a refund was denied. Despite being faced with a crisis situation that was well beyond our control, the owner chose not to display any flexibility or empathy towards us, his customers. Therefore, it's with a heavy heart that we share our deeply disappointing experience with Sky Apartments Catania City Center. The owner's rigidity, unwillingness to adapt to unexpected situations, and overall lack of compassion have cast a shadow over what should have been a simple and pleasant rental process. We encourage anyone considering a future booking with Sky Apartments Catania City Center to think twice, taking our experience into account before making a final decision.
