La Villa Del Re - Adults Only - Small Luxury Hotels of the World

Hanoi was our first stop on our Vietnam trip and the Majesty Sky Bar at the „La Sinfonia del Rey Hotel and Spa“, centrally located in the vivid old town area, was the best place to relax for a sundowner, peacefully overviewing the serene „Lake of the returned Sword“ and beautiful skyline around. Kris, the charming waiter, took very good care of us and we were spoiled with excellent drinks and even exquisite food while taking in the wonderful views on this amazing town.

We stayed here for five nights at the beginning of the summer season. This resort is completely top-notch: perfect service, nice rooms, amazing food, bland beautiful grounds. We were overwhelmed by the restaurant service. The two restaurants are wonderful. Breakfast is amazing and dinner is a five-star experience! The food is superb. Our room had a view of the water. The room was comfortable, spacious, and modern. The bathroom is clean, modern, and beautiful. The linens are even luxurious! The pool is so beautiful! Towel and drink service throughout the day. This is an expensive resort, but it was well worth it. The only drawback would be the location. It is on the water, but far from any attractions or other restaurants. It's about an hour from Cagliari by car.

Truly a 5-star experience! The property is stunning and immaculate, with private access to an incredible beach and great pool area. Two great restaurants with impeccable service and great food. Special mention to Matteo and his team running the Bella Vista restaurant. What makes the experience great is the staff - every single interaction was friendly, helpful and professional! Couldn’t fault a single thing, and we didn’t want to leave at the end. Rooms are spacious and have a great view of the ocean and the property! Tip- you can book the amazing courtesy room to freshen up after check out if you end up staying at the hotel waiting for a later flight. Can’t wait to be back here!

Villa del Re is the perfect place to go for a truly luxurious break far from the madding crowd (and any kids) - intimate, discreet, relaxing and with amazing views over the sea wherever you look. Sunrises and sunsets are truly epic, a veritable "50 shades of turquoise"... The staff our outstanding - professional, kind, friendly, helpful and willing to go the extra mile as one would expect from such a top class hotel. Almost all of them are Sardinian - very warm, proud and passionate people. happy to share about their country, its heritage and superb produce. So we enjoyed top class service coupled with a fantastic Sardinian authenticity - a unique differentiator from other 5-class establishments the world over. The food and drink is outstanding - from the fabulous breakfasts to dinner next to the sea at the Belle Vista Restaurant where manager Matteo and his team deliver top-class food with nightly specials (usually delicious Sardinian dishes) over and above the menu. Facilities are excellent and the beach and pool were a delight in the blazing Sardinian sunshine. We cannot wait to return!

This is a beautiful location on a very long stretch of beach. It is a true 5 star property and 5 star experience with fantastic service and professional staff. The rooms are large, well appointed and very clean. The property is landscaped beautifully and well maintained. The restaurants are first rate. Stay here if you are in Castiadas.

found bite marks in the bread at breakfast - bread clearly being reused which is unsanitary and ruined the dining experience for me for the rest of the trip I have videos of black ants in the hotel room. Cleaning schedule seemed irratic with the cleaners often coming at strange times - room was never really cleaned. They just made the bed. Staff clearly overworked with the same staff on at breakfast working all the way until dinner service or later Staff seemed somewhat annoyed that we elected to use their transfer services frequently to dine outside the resort - we were left waiting for 1 hour to return at one point after notification. While we were fine to wait - it was the one time no one greeted us on our return and felt pointed Beautiful resort, great food and grounds but just some thoughts

We discovered this hotel through the recommendation of a friend who had been there twice already. It is a very small and peaceful resort at the Costa del Re. The hotel was designed for guests to do nothing and this was exactly what we were looking for. Impeccable service throughout. Excellent dinner each evening at The Palme restaurant after we tried The Grill restaurant on the first evening. We felt The Palme had more to offer for our tastes and we weren't quite happy with the meat served at The Grill on the first evening (both dishes cooked too dry). The Palme restaurant was excellent 4 evenings in a row, with great staff and delicious food. We are thinking of returning next year. A couple of things to point out - in the first week of September there were winds from the north and the sea was not calm and it was practically impossible to have a good swim in the sea. You could still go in and enjoy the waves for a bit, but we spent most time by and in the swimming pool. Not sure how this is at other times in the summer. The hacienda style hotel building has an interesting history (it was a school once and hotel thereafter and then closed for I believe 50 years and then renovated and reopened in 2014. Most rooms are small but we were lucky to be able to book one of the few junior suites and the only one with direct frontal sea view. It was still not the room type we would normally choose but it was absolutely fine for this stay. Walls are a bit thin and if you get room neighbours that are more noisy than they should be, it can be quite disturbing. This was the case for us on two evenings. You could actually hear the other couple through the air ventilation system in the bathroom and also outside from the balcony with our balcony doors shut. Still, after dinner from around 11pm the hotel resort gets very quiet. The pool area and service is great but the deck around the pool and the deck pathways definitely need replacement.

My wife and I (very young/active 70s) spent 3 days at La Villa del Re and had a most wonderful time. Everything, and I really mean everything, was excellent. The rooms were very comfortable and attractive (not to mention spotless). The service everywhere was exceptional. Everyone was very friendly and professional. Every aspect was elegant and refined. The property is beautiful with a superb beach. The water is amazing - clear, blue, warm..... The property is "adults only" which we love. The clientele was almost exclusively European when we were there. The property is in the southern part of Sardinia. Although I've never been to the northern part I understand that the differences are very significant. In the south it's more relaxed and typical Italian. I understand the the northern part is more "jet-set" and trendy. Do the research, it matters. For us the casual elegance was exactly what we wanted. The entire staff was great but a special "shout-out" to a young up-and-coming member of the dining room staff: Nicola. he was great and so pleasant to meet him. Good luck Nicola as you move up in the hospitality industry. I've already told my adult, married children to plan a trip to Villa del Re next time they go to Italy (often).
