The Landmark Hotel

My boyfriend and I made a last minute booking on Saturday 6/7/24 to stay that night. As we were traveling from the north it taken us some 4 hours to get there, to include stopping for food. My boyfriend received a call when we were 10mins again from it, to see if we were still coming ‍♀️. Check in was fast and efficient. First impressions the room was nice, dated but nice. I was really impressed by the field day soaps as I know this to be an expensive bring as I actually sell it in my shop. We went to turn on the tv just as background noise while we were unpacking and discovered the tv was actually smashed. Straight away we call reception as we did want blamed for this. Only to be responded with ‘it’s too late to move you room now’ ‍♀️ so we just said ok and got on with our night. Fast forward to breakfast (included in the price) I can honestly say it was the most pathetic breakfast I’ve ever had in a hotel. We both ordered fluffy pancakes. What arrived was just that! Approximately 3 pancakes slapped on a plate and ONE strawberry cut into segments in a tiny ramekin. Absolutely pathetic. The only decent thing about breakfast was the massive teapot of tea‍♀️ on check out I again mentioned the tv with a surprised first they’ed heard of it expression and no apology or offer of reduction. Terrible service, avoid We had reservations for dinner , we had placed our dinner order in the morning and the hotel knew what time we were booked to eat at and knew what we were having to eat, to say the service was shocking is an understatement, we were a small group, one person would get there dinner then 5 mins later another dinner would come then I was asking for the rest of my order , so by the time the chips arrived I had rest of food eaten, then cause for the chips arrived after my dinner was finished , food was very expensive for the small portions received, I will be telling people to avoid as it was nothing short of a joke the service .. my friend ordered soup and mash as a main course .. she got the soup and was told she couldn't have the mash until after the soup as one was a starter and one was on the main course menu , so she sat there waiting after her soup was finished then has to ask for her mash....no dirty plates were taken from table when soup was finish till the mash arrived, had to keep asking for basics such as butter etc . Female manager was clueless and had no idea what to do, staff were just wandering around no direction given to them

The hotel is absolutely beautiful from the moment you walk in you’re greeted with a very spacious lobby with plenty of seating available. As I approached reception I was greeted with a lovely lady ( I apologise I didn’t get anyone’s name during our stay) who mentioned our room was ready even though we were early for check in which I greatly appreciated as I was travelling with my parents and my 7 week old daughter our first holiday. The entire check in process was simple and the breakfast/lunch and dinner times were all explained to us. When we got to the room we were surprised to see it over looking the Shannon river the view was fantastic and the room well it was just wonderful as it was so spacious and I really appreciated you being able to accommodate my request for the cot it was perfect. My only flaw with the room and its only minor was because of the cot I could only assume that maybe there was small table that would usually have the tea and coffee station on it. This station was set up in the wardrobe and due to the plug situation then the kettle had to be placed on the floor in order to boil it to make bottles. My daughter is only 7 weeks old but maybe something to note if there are toddlers in the room as it would unsafe. Breakfast display was great plenty of variety on offer from the display area as well as on the menu itself. There was one lady who was there on Thursday and Friday morning and she was wonderful nothing was too much for her at all. She is an asset to your hotel. However breakfast on our last morning was very disappointing. Our orders were wrong and service was very slow. My mother ordered a small breakfast with poached eggs and the order came out with just two poached eggs. So we sent it back only to discover that the egg was inedible. It was stone cold. I ordered the scrambled eggs on toast and a portion of the boxty( potato cake) and what I got was scrambled eggs and a piece of yhe boxty(potato cake) I didn’t send it back but I was disappointed. It really shouldn’t take one person to pull an entire team but clearly it does. We decided to have dinner in the hotel as honestly it was the best dinner we’ve ever had in a hotel. The food is incredible. So an absolute credit to the chef. We did eat out one night in an Italian and the food and service was incredibly disappointing so we decided to eat in the hotel again on our final night and again absolutely perfect. So thank you. Overall it was a lovely stay in such a lovely hotel it was just a shame about the breakfast on our last day and the room comment is just to note it but the room was
