Yes, I traveled in shoulder season- I like that. However, I was the only guest at the inn- check in was rough- it took a good fifteen minutes after I had asked for a room with a view and the receptionist had to talk to the manager. They would upgrade me for $20- I thought that since I was the only guest that night they might upgrade me for free. Once I agreed to the price hike they told me the heat was off in that wing and that they had put a space heater in the room. At that point, I suggested that they upgrade me for free since the hotel was not fully operational. They agreed and upgraded me to a room with a view with a space heater, but the television didn’t work because they had started shutting things down. The room was clean but very dated- no upgraded electrical outlets for today’s electronics. There was a nice view of the mountain. When I first got to the room I could hear a chirping from a CO2 monitor on the floor. Luckily the receptionist was able to replace the battery but imagine if that had happened a little later- I would have had to listen to it all night, as I did with the space heater which when on and off all night. I was the only one at the inn overnight- reminded me ofJack Nicholson in The Shining. My point is, either you’re open or closed!! I should have been told of the almost closed functionality of the hotel. If I had know I would have gone somewhere else.
