The hotel admits to 10 categories of room type, yet only show 8 of these on the website. The room (Junior Suite) we were allocated was not displayed on the website. Anyway long story about this and we discussed it with hotel reception when we were there and I followed it up by email to a lady there – initials CB, and the reason I am not giving this hotel any more than three stars is the attitude that was displayed to me when I arrived home in the form of a long lecturing email from CB which was not helpful and essentially blaming us for choosing the incorrect room, even though this room is not shown on the website and it turns out is a room for reduced mobility guests. (which we are not) The room was a “junior suite” in the attic (5th floor) it had a separate wet room, aptly named when everything became wet during showering and not one hook to hang anything in there. Next door a separate toilet room that was dark and depressing. The room is suitable for guests with reduced mobility and we did not ask for this when booking. Our mobility is 100% The bed was average and wardrobe storage adequate. The room had narrow double glass doors which opened, but no balcony. There was a very distant view of the ocean that not even my binoculars could improve. Cost of our stay per night was €449.60 This included the room at €387, two breakfasts €44 (yes, breakfast is extra) €3.60 local tax and €15 parking. Too overpriced for this type of hotel. We stayed five nights. We met another couple who paid €242 for their one night stay, admittedly a smaller room but…..worth €200 less? – I doubt it. The room was cleaned daily no earlier than 4pm, and we brought this to attention of reception. In her email CB told us we should have asked for earlier housekeeping when we checked in. This is a new phenomenon to us and no one told us about this on check in day. We did hang the ‘please clean room’ sign on the door every morning but it was ignored. The staff were very nice and dinner was delicious, although the €22 breakfast was a limited self service affair. The hotel does not offer lunch options and the bar only opens in the evenings. There is a very limited finger food menu, although I never saw anyone avail of that. Cocktails average €16 - for much better value try around the corner at 'La Baignoire de Josephine' The indoor pools is fine and although it has two showers the toilets are not within the pool complex. There is a gloomy and cramped gym which I never used and a very small sun area that can only be accessed via the indoor pool. The area is so narrow that the few sun beds there are placed single file along the path. The beach is a 7 minute walk if you exit the hotel on Av. De Kermario or a 12 minute walk if you need to use the disabled exit to Av. des Druides. By the way if you want a quiet sleep away from late night revellers, ask for a room facing Av. des Druides.
