Casa Acuario Boutique Hotel

Casa Acuario is one of the best places our family has ever stayed! The large room with outdoor kitchenette was perfect for 2 adults and 2 kids. There were many thoughtful amenities from floaties and snorkeling equipment to white noise machines that muffled the sound of the water taxis zooming by. Breakfast is delicious and Ariel does an amazing job helping arrange activities. The hotel has several very healthy and happy dogs that my children adored. The location was also ideal. Bocas del Toro is a series of islands, ranging from the bopping party town of Bocas to very remote islands. Casa Acuario is in a perfect location - close to the main areas via water taxi but far enough away to be peaceful. We can’t wait to come back! Tip; bring plenty of cash including small bills. While Casa Acuario takes credit card, most places don’t and there is not ATM service on the island.

Casa Acuario is located in Isla Carenero, which is a one minute, $1.00 water taxi ride. Owners Mandy and JP have done a lot with this beautiful and romantic property overlooking the Caribbean ocean. You can literally jump off your deck into the ocean and enjoy some excellent snorkeling underneath and around the over the water hotel! The rooms are large and beautifully appointed with lots of wood, nice beds and bedding, lovely furniture, TV, good Wi-Fi, fresh drinking water and wonderful soaps and shampoos. Each room has its own lovely deck/balcony with a table and chairs and a hammock where you can relax and watch the boats go by. There are also rafts and surfboards and games to enjoy as guests. Casa Acuario has delicious breakfast offerings in the morning and they offer snacks and juices and beers and even a small gift area which is all done through the honor system. A special shout out goes to Gabriel, who was both delightful and accommodating. Their sweet gentle doggies on the property that make the place feel more like home. There are several restaurants within a short walking distance such as Bibi's on the beach, leaf-eaters, a little Mexican taco and quesadilla stand, and more. Only a short distance away is the Panama Dive School Bocas Del Toro where you can go on scuba diving excursions. We have been to Casa Acuario multiple times and would definitely recommend it to others looking for a special and memorable experience.

Casa Acuario is hands-down the best place my spouse and I have ever stayed. We spent a week enjoying its magic, half our time in a sea-level room and the other half upstairs. From start to finish, it was perfect. The rooms have been beautifully renovated by the owners, who’ve clearly put a lot of care into every detail. Each space is very comfortable, with thoughtful touches like eye masks, ear plugs, and white noise machines that helped a light sleeper, like me, sleep soundly. The rooms also have good A/C, fast WiFi, smart TVs, and more tech than you'll probably need because, let’s be honest, the real luxury is outside. The sea-level rooms literally let you step straight from your room into the ocean. The setting on Isla Carenero is ideal: laid back but just a quick water taxi ride away from Bocas Town. The views of Bocas Town and the sunsets from the sundeck never get old. The hosts and all the staff were welcoming, incredibly friendly, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Their recommendations for food, activities, and local experiences were spot-on every time. Breakfast each morning on the cozy patio was such a treat. The food was fresh and delicious. We also made good use of the complimentary paddle boards, kayaks, and snorkel gear. If you’re considering a stay at Casa Acuario—go. We’re already dreaming about our next visit.
