Premier Inn Cardiff West

Bed was brilliant, room was clean and quiet. Came for a funeral following day. If I had been able to pre booked hopefully would not have been £110 but maybe “£35 to £45 But in any event it was a great room and the continental breakfast was edible but not worth £10 should have been £5 for the quality of the croissants was sub par. I would happily recommend and stay here again if needs be.

I usually choose Premier Inn for its reliable comfort, but this stay felt more like a Travelodge. On arrival, the room had a musty smell and no heating, which wasn’t a great first impression. However, it did appear clean. The pillows were hard, and the duvet was stiff—not the usual cosy bedding I expect from Premier Inn. The mattress was lumpy and nowhere near the standard I’ve come to rely on. Regulating the room temperature was frustrating. The electric radiator beeped and crackled when turned on, then switched itself off randomly, making it impossible to keep the room at a comfortable temperature. On the plus side, the location is great for heading into downtown Cardiff, with a short taxi ride or Uber costing around £12-15 each way. It’s also a good base for exploring Barry Island, making it a convenient option if you’re planning to visit both areas. Unfortunately, the stay itself didn’t live up to Premier Inn’s usual standards.

Wonderful stay and the staff are brilliant, Kim behind reception was super helpful and friendly, made the stay even better. Room was clean and comfortable and food was very good. Loads of lovely walks around the area and everyone was very friendly.

Receptionist ignored me on arrival, as she decided to speak to her colleague instead. Room carpet between the beds looked like it had been missed when hoovering. I had to ask the receptionist for a cloth to clean the bath and sink because there were black hairs left. Bathroom walls were paint chipped a lot, radiator was rusty and the shower curtain was FILTHY and smelt awful! The bed was not overly comfortable - it had a mattress topper (I assume) on the mattress which felt well used and lumpy, this was not comfortable. My husband got out and used the small bed instead. An adjoining room resident snored all night incredibly loudly, it sounded like someone was revving a motorbike outside of our room.

We regularly use this premier inn while visiting family. Every time the rooms have been clean, the perfect temp and well stocked. Extra towels, pillows, tea and coffee supplies are available on request. The breakfast is freshly cooked and has plenty of options. What makes the stay enjoyable is the staff. Every member of staff is friendly and professional, nothing is a problem and provide a perfect amount off banter with breakfast. We look forward to returning soon.

We stayed at Cardiff West Premier Inn during our visit to family for christmas, the hotel is a little dated but exceptionally clean! Free coffee and teas available in the room and free parking in the hotel, but a major highlight of our stay was the lovely and friendly Ella (i believe was her name) on the receptionist desk. Ella made us feel extremely welcome during our stay and was very attentive whenever we needed anything, always had a smile on her face and very chatty girl! She needs to be praised as she went above and beyond for us! All in all, a very lovely stay that really made our christmas that much better😀
