VÍA XIX

We spent one night in Caldes de Reims at Hotel Via XIX. The hotel is centrally located, on the Camino Portuguese and a beautiful boutique hotel. We arrived after a tough day on the Camino and a full day in driving rain. Checkin is up on the second level and we felt horrible as we were soaked and drippy. The staff was understanding and helped us get to our room. After drying and sorting, we were please to learn that the hotel has a small laundry facility for guests. We promptly got our wet cloths to the washer and dryer and set out to find dinner. The hotel is nicely located, but we did not venture far for food and supplies. The morning came quickly and breakfast was set for specific times to ensure service. It was pleasant and appreciated. After breakfast, we dropped our bags and headed back out into the rain. This time with ponchos to help keep us dry. Thank you to the kind staff at the Hotel Via XIX for making our stay comfortable.

This hotel was booked by Santiago Ways as part of our Camino travel. What a wonderful, delightful, and clean place after another day of walking! The welcome, rooms, location, and breakfast were all elevated experiences. The location is central, and there is a public warm water foot soaking area nearby. Our dinner was located in a nearby restaurant and was filled with many pilgrims....a fun experience. We would highly recommend this place.

The Via XIX is centrally located in the heart of town. We were warmly greeted by Mercedes when we arrived. Our room was bright with French doors overlooking the pedestrian way. Doors could be opened for fresh air or air conditioning was more than adequate to keep the room cool and quiet. Nice furnishings and updated bathroom. Beds were large and comfortable. No problems with internet. Breakfasts were more than complete with hot and cold items, baked goods, cheeses and meats. Food and beverages were plentiful and the breakfast room was cheerful. Since we walked the Camino, an evening meal was included down the street at Roquino. The food there was good, the service was friendly and it was just a short walk away. All the Via XIX staff were delightful. ...the owners, kitchen & serving staff, as well as housekeeping. We felt very welcome and well taken care of . We recommend Via XIX without hesitation.
