Hotel Club Cala Romani

Clean, bright & spotless apartments, just be aware that all apartments have a shower over the bath - my husband walks with 2 sticks so not easy getting in a bath, asked the manager & he said only a few walk in showers & they was in the hotel rooms. We managed until the lifts broke down 3 times in 4 days (we were on 4th floor), saw the female manager who gave us a free upgrade to pool view ground floor (really grateful). Plenty going on, pools great, plenty of choice of well cooked food, little town just 5 mins walk away

Having stayed here for a week with family on all inclusive basis here's some thoughts. Check in was slow but it's no big deal we stayed in block A on the second floor which had good views of the pool and surrounding area, the room we got was small basic but cleaned everyday no fridge that would have helped the walls are paper thin and you can hear conversations next door. The pool area was really good plenty of sunbeds although we went there at the end of may so that'll be different in the next few months. There's 3 pools baby, medium and a deeper pool also a small kids play park with a smaller pool perfect for smaller kids with swings slides etc. The food in the restaurant was ok plenty of choice at breakfast and dinner also 2 snack bars which opened at 12 for toasties burgers hotdogs and stuff like that we ate out 3 nights but if you weren't fussy you'd never need to leave. It's a five minute walk to the town and there's some nice places there if you wanted a change but I have to mention the staff they were all brilliant from the lifeguards to the cleaners all working very hard and are always smiling all in all we had a good time and I'm sure you will to.

Pool was good, food was average. Evening entertainment was poor, Rooms were clean and no complaints, Reception staff are beyond slow, took 20 minutes to check one person in, and we turned up with a coach full of 40 people so you can imagine how the person at the back was feeling, they aren’t very helpful in the slightest. Reusable cups at 1 euro each, which was very annoying when you left them in your room and had to keep remembering to take them with you incase you wanted a bloody drink. 2 lovely beaches within 10 minute walk of the hotel which we went to daily as the hotel was just full of screaming kids, parents hammered by 12 o clock not knowing where their kids where (let’s just say it’s definitely a type of clientele) so we stayed out of the hotel a lot- The food hall was loud and no outside seating to get away from the noise, so we also ate out lot in the evenings. Would not visit again.

We booked a quick cheap week away and expected it to be basic. Rooms are just about clean, old and dated and the bathroom is tired but it was enough to sleep in and get clean The communal areas are lovely and clean and the pool is immaculate - at the start of the day. The food is what it is. There’s variety and you can keep your tummy full but don’t expect to go home raving about local cuisine. The idea of having a token for a cup is fantastic. You don’t get all the waste plastic and people aren’t leaving half drunk drinks everywhere Bad points Don’t expect to sit on the terraces having civilised conversation after 11:50pm, you’ll be sent to bed by a burly security guard you wouldn’t dare argue with The sunbed wars are real even though you’d be more comfortable laying on broken glass And finally, if you want your holiday to feel like you’re on the filming set of Benidorm whilst all the actors get extremely drunk and let feral children run a mock, then this is the place for you

Yes it is a three star hotel and we got a reasonable deal for four nights. However, that’s was pretty much the best of it. Check in was a nightmare, two members of staff already dealing with a previous intake before they could make start on our queue. Unfortunately one of them, Joanna, had only two speeds…. Dead slow and stop! We had booked two rooms and they had split us up, not on separate floors, which would be okay, but into separate blocks on opposite ends of the resort. I pride myself on being a fairly patient and courteous person, but two hours after check in we still hadn’t resolved the room issue. We are three ladies on the cusp of 70 and didn’t feel comfortable being so segregated. I bet they wouldn’t split families up like that? We were eventually placed in the same block, although that was several hours of my life I’ll never get back. The rooms were basic but clean. A €1 refundable deposit had to be paid for a plastic cup to get your drinks with, it was changed each time you got a drink, I mislaid my token and had to purchase a non refundable token! €15 for the key to the safety deposit box in your room, you only get €3 back, starting to realise they should be wearing masks! Unless you want to get up before 7am(which a lot did)to secure a very uncomfortable sunbed, you will have no hope of even getting a chair to sit on. The food was mediocre, most of the meat was overcooked and tough, the vegetables were also overcooked. There was a choice of salad and/or potatoes, but everyday was the same. As I mentioned, we were only here for four nights and we ate out for three of them, after trying lunch we couldn’t face it again in the evening. We were picked up at 07.50 for our return transfer. No breakfast, not even a hot drink was available. I was told we should of booked a breakfast box. As I hadn’t packed my crystal ball I wasn’t aware, nor was it on the “information sheet”. To summarise: Brilliant for families on a tight budget if your expectations aren’t too high. Don’t go if you are looking for a romantic break. Would I return? No, not even for free.
