It is difficult to give this hotel a gllowing reference. I will try and give a full review of everything we felt after staying at Insotel Cala Mandia Resort & Spa 1) We booked through TUI, and despite the plane being changed to Ascend Airways we arrived on time and the Tui transfer was perfectly fine. 2) We were a party of 10 (3 families of 6 adults, 3 16 y/o and a 12 y/o. On booking this hotel we realised that the two families with 16+ y/olds were given gold "Adult" wristbands. Thes wristands entitled the user to use the free Spa Facilities (not treatments), together with the "adults only" pool (inclusive of Balinaise Beds) for free as well as the foodtruck located at the Adults only Pool. The family of containing an under 16 was not given the same wtistbands unfortunately, but this was retified swiftly by the TUI rep. However the 12 y/o still could use these facilities understandably. 3) The Hotel - this hotel is split into 4 areas. A, B, C and D. Area A is where all of the main parts of the hotel are located. Reception, Arcade, Spa, Sports Bar, American Diner, main buffet restaurant, Bar and entertainment space, 3 pools (main, south pool and adults pool) and of course many rooms. Area B has a small pool as well as a small bar and this is where some entertainment is laid on at night. Area C has the Insosplash water themed pool area (with some very small slides, mainly attracting smaller children, the kids club, an italian restaurant that can be booked and the sports areas (Tennis Courts, Basketball and a nice 3G Football Pitch). Area D is like its own hotel 5-10mins walk from Area A. This is like they have purchased another hotel across the way and labelled it as an Insotel Hotel. We did not visit this one for obvious reasons. The problem with most of this hotel in general is that it feels way to occupied, with not enough space for everyone. The aircon in the communual areas is just not good enough. We heard there was an issue but others said that thats what it is always like! 4) Pools - As mentioned above there is not enough space for everyone to enjoy the pools and not enough sun shades to share around. The Adult Pool is sort of fenced off from the rest but is right next to the kids Splash pad which of course means you can hear lots of shouting and screaming. It is though by far the best pool out of all of them because when inside, its quite relaxing. There are just Balinaise Beds to use and we did not suffer with scrapping for a sunbed. If you do not have the right wristband however, you would need to pay €30 per day to use this area (which does come with its own foodtruck serving drinks and snacks. The main pool is either love it or hate it. They have staff trying to get people dancing in the pool and playing water polo etc, it wasnt for us but it was popular and over crowded at all times. People were putting towels out at 5am though here so you either get happy with moving peoples towels, or get up early and join them!. The South Poo
