Overall we had a great time and would return. Positives: the main restaurant (menu was very nice), the resort grounds (lovely to walk around and explore), the pools, location, and parts of the room. Areas for improvement: - the tiles around the main pool are extremely slippery. With children and elderly people walking and running here this is a disaster waiting to happen. We saw many people slip and fall (luckily no one was hurt). I would suggest adding rubber walking strips similar to those at the adult pool to prevent slipping. - attitude of staff: while overall the staff were lovely I did have several interactions where staff were unnecessary inflexible on certain issues. Again, if a hotel is operating in this price point, the staff need to be better equipped at being flexible and accommodating guest requests, rather than just blindly reciting policies and saying ‘no’ like staff a regular hotel. The staff at your competitors at Halycon House and Bedarra Island are much better at this. - service at main bar: there was one time when I was waiting at the main bar to order a drink for 10 minutes while those behind the bar chose to ignore me. It was only around 4pm so it was not busy. I found this quite rude and not something I had experienced at a resort of this calibre before. I ended up walking away from the bar without any acknowledgement from staff. - quality of the rooms: the TVs are a major bugbear - they are old and difficult to use with no ability to simply click on a streaming service app such as Netflix. Instead guests need to jump through hoops and scan various codes to mirror your phone app to the TV. In this day and age where good TVs are relatively cheap, there is really no excuse for this in a resort of this calibre. Also, the 2 bedroom doors in our room would not close properly and banged all night, which was quite frustrating. There was also dirt and old food under the couch cushions which was gross. - lamb served by the adult pool- some of the lamb I received was extremely fatty and inedible. For $29 a pop this was not good enough. The chef should not plate fatty undercooked lamb. While some of the above points may seem picky, if a resort is looking to operate in this price bracket then they are important to get right.
