Residence Inn Dayton Vandalia

It's never fun to be greeted with a bunch of warnings about stuff being potentially stolen from your car. Hotel was dated, but it looks like a renovation is planned, so your mileage may vary. Management seems a bit disorganized - our TVs were supposed to be updated, which meant contractors entering our room sometime between noon and seven. That meant when we returned from dinner, we couldn't shower, nap, or even change into our pajamas - and then no one ever showed up to our suite! Glad we weren't traveling with out cat, since we were instructed to secure all pets, and as any cat owner will tell you, that's not something we plan for. I guess I just wish we'd been informed of the TV thing/contractor beforehand. I assume the internet TV was being added, since we had none. Not sure the last Marriott I stayed in that only had cable. This wouldn't be our first choice in the future. It was quiet, though.

While waiting to check in I had a medical event. The front desk clerk was quick to get me a towel, pillow and tower fan that was extremely comforting. She then handed me my room key and made sure that I was good to go. Thank you for your help. The breakfast was hot and fresh. The kitchen staff was friendly and cheerful. Nice well kept rooms with plenty of free parking. Close to Walmart and many restaurants.

Comfortable 2 night stay in a one bedroom suite. The location is with other hotels in quiet area. My room overlooked the parking lot with a view of a field. Its a well maintained residence inn and a standard breakfast is provided which was alright. Some hot items like eggs but oatmeal is out of a package. Would come back again if in the Dayton area.

This was the second time staying at this hotel - the first time being in 2018 (5 years ago). Once again, we booked a room with a fireplace, since it was December, and it was absolutely wonderful to curl up in front of the fire when it was so cold and snowy outside. The suite was clean and well appointed, although it did look like it needed touched up a bit here and there (for example, the lid on the toilet tank was cracked and looked like it had been fixed, but not replaced). Those things were not really of too much consequence, however. The bed was very comfortable and quiet, for the most part (our last night, there must have been a family with children in the room above ours, since we kept hearing running about until rather late, but we played a rainfall soundtrack on our phone to drown it out). The kitchen is so nice to have & I love how they have a full sized range with an oven. I doubt I would make a full homemade meal here (although, technically, it could be possible), but it was wonderful to heat up a frozen pizza one night instead of going out. The staff was friendly and helpful. We took advantage of the free breakfast and were pleased with the variety of things available. Not 5 star gourmet cuisine, but tasty and filled us up, preparing us for our day ahead. We stayed 5 days, through Christmas. The lobby was decorated nicely and, despite Dayton having a winter storm, they made sure that walkways were cleared and salted. Highly recommend this hotel if you're in the area, especially if you're staying more than a night or two. My husband has now said that he would prefer to stay there over any of the other hotels we've stayed at in north Dayton.
