Skye Basecamp Hostel, Broadford Bay, Isle of Skye

Great hostel. Lots of nice touches that you don't get in chain hostels. We had a private room (but could still hear those sleeping noises from adjacent rooms that you get in a dorm!). Good showers and other bathroom facilities, all worked well and kept very clean. Well equipped kitchen - lots of fridge space and a freezer. Comfortable lounge. An interesting mix of guests with many people who were having adventures on the Cuillin mountains (using Skye Guides who are based at the hostel), and quite a few others who were touring on Skye by car. No hesitation in recommending this place.

What a tine we had at the basecamp. A Lovely warm relaxing atmosphere met us and the rooms were spotless. The kitchen was very well equipped and well laid out. The staff were extremely helpful and the whole experience was just wonderful. I would go back anytime and I am 70 years old

Skye Basecamp is an excellent base for exploring the Skye munros. I was booked in with Skye Guides and this was the perfect base to return to each day after walking. The kitchen is very well equipped, rooms are clean and the atmosphere of being around other walkers is great - I got chatting to a lot of the other guests. The lounge is great to hang around and relax and read a book. There is a drying room for drying off any wet kit from your walk too. Staff are all very friendly. There are plenty of restaurants, a chippy and a Co-op just 5 min walk away for shopping. Definitely recommend booking a guide from Skye Guides if you're going up into the Cuillin to do munros.
