Berwick Lodge

Wonderful overnight stay with dinner and breakfast. We used a Secret Escapes deal and we were not disappointed! The room was luxurious and the food was delicious. A wonderful ambiance around the place with loads of period features. We will definitely stay again if we are up this way. Conveniently close to the motorway and Cribbs Causeway where we did our Christmas shopping!

Some lovely complimentary touches. Yes we paid for it, but they certainly delivered above and beyond and we can’t thank you all enough.

Stayed overnight as a break on the holiday journey from Lancashire to Cornwall. Food, staff and room (KAPPADOKIA) delightful. Enjoyed it so much we booked to stay again on the return journey.

This place is just magical, like out of a fairy tale, the garden or better the parc surrounding the hotel is spectacular, with some old tree, beautiful flowers, a pond and a little wood. The architecture is just beautiful, as well as the decoration. the personnel very nice.

This literally is a hidden gem, tucked away with a "miles from anywhere" feeling belying it's ultra convenient proximity to major road networks. The property and it's grounds are well maintained and spotlessly clean. The staff are relaxed, proffessional and keen to assist. The food and drink were excellent. We had a very enjoyable short stay and hope to return in the future.

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at Berwick Lodge with family and friends. We had an amazing time, the staff were so attentive and the food was delicious. We had so much help prior to booking as well with Magdalena. Absolutely superb day and experience

Stayed as part of a wedding party & had an amazing time. Aside from the fabulous wedding itself, the venue is superb in it's own right, & our room was wonderful. The staff are all really nice, especially Hugo & Lydia, & nothing was too much trouble for them. The food & service at both the wedding & the next morning's breakfast was spot on, & we couldn't fault a thing! Thanks yet again for a lovely stay.

We were a bit disappointed. The selection of sandwiches were a bit disappointing. The beef and horseradish were good. Not so with cheese and pickle which the pickle was really sweet I scraped mine off. The prawns were not my cup of tea in fact for my other daughter who did not eat it, the last not memerable at all. The pot of tea was very weak. It was stirred by myself and left to brew for 15 minutes. Out of the whole pot my daughter drank, only 2 leaves popped out. The waitress offered to put more tea leaves in it??? I asked for a coffee instead. The scones were lovely but the rest I gave away; the biscuit, panacotta and macaron. A lot of local friends said it was great at Berwick Lodge but my experience today, not so. I won't be going back. Luckily it wasn't for my birthday!

We were staying two days for my wife’s birthday treat and Berwick Lodge delivered! Lots of small hotels now describe themselves as ‘boutique’ presumably hoping that use of the word alone will somehow elevate their establishment to another level. Fortunately, Berwick Lodge has an owner/manager who understands the true definition and the level of expectation that the word boutique represents, so, has lovingly created surroundings coupled with a staff ethos that delivers on it! From front of house to housekeeping Berwick Lodge seems to have a team entirely comprised of smiling staff who are happy in what they do and where they are doing it, as a result, customers enjoy professional individual service delivered with warmth and personality by people who seem to genuinely care about your experience. Bedrooms are all individual yet cohesively themed with very luxurious and beautifully tiled bathrooms that will instantly make you wish you had booked to stay longer. We stayed in Galatia a smaller double but with a large bathroom the shower in which was just an amazingly good way to start the day. We also found ourselves spending a lot longer than was strictly necessary each evening soaking in the slipper bath before dressing for dinner. When you do drag yourself away from the bathrooms and bedrooms you can relax in the Arts and Crafts panelled lounge with its open fire and table service or gaze over the garden towards Wales from the dining rooms while enjoying either a very good breakfast or an excellent dinner. When you do leave the lodge, Clifton village is just a 15-minute drive away, so the best of Bristol is easily accessible, yet, when you return through the gates it’s to a warmer, more relaxed, intimate and indulgent world!
