Hard to know where to begin. The hotel is tired and run down, and the service haphazard. In my childhood this was where visitors to our place in Moss Vale would stay, and I’d always wanted to try it myself, as the grounds are so beautiful. So I decided to be a tourist in my own neighbourhood. Sadly, the hotel is way past its prime and the approach to customer service is very inconsistent. Some issues with security- my room was left open by the cleaners but luckily nothing was stolen. And like another person reviewing - just a few days before my visit it seems- I was also charged twice to stay here. It has gone from being a really upmarket place to stay to quite dreary. But here’s the icing on the cake: After staying at the hotel, I completed their online survey and was as honest as I could be, listing out the areas where I had been disappointed. Hopefully they use it to improve, right? About 2 minutes after hitting send, I received an anonymous phone call - no caller ID- from a woman saying that she just wanted to give me some feedback that I was rude and obnoxious and then just hung up on me. And you know what? I recognised her voice as the hotel receptionist ! Brilliant. You couldn’t make it up. How to top off a very average stay- with an anonymous hate call. Wow.
