Harbour Lights Caravan Park

Close to town, yacht club, Birds fish bar (great) plus foreshore with playgrounds and beach. Quiet older park, but fairly clean with easy sites, some drive through and short-term guests are separate from long-term. Good base to explore Bowen for a few days.

Aptly positioned near the harbour. Give this place a wide berth. Avoid this one as plenty of other options available in Bowen, Horseshoe Beach etc. this place is run by a bloke with anger management issues which he displayed from the moment we got there. Appalling management, clearly in the wrong profession. Over priced and over rated. To say the place is ‘tired’ would be generous description. And as for clean, take your own sterilizer. I’ve stayed in many parks over the years, and it’s not always easy to pick best/worst, but this joint just got the gold medal for worst. Clear winner and i know it’s a crown they will keep for a long time, as long as that clown runs it.

Good location easy to walk into town. There are a number of permanents whose sites just look a mess. Not a good look and makes the park look rundown. Also, the management do not take strong enough action against residents dogs who bark a lot. Probably the poorest park in Bowen but could do a lot better with stronger management policies that are applied.

I would like to say that I was not impressed with care of this caravan park. I have stayed in this park on other trips and was impressed with the park. I was not happy with the maintenance and when I went into the office to make inquiry about staying there to be confronted with a man at the desk with the smell of alcohol on his breath and was unable to talk properly, slurring his words. Looking at the park the grass was not maintained as it was so long and the bins were over flowing with rubbish. I have photos to if you require them.

We stayed in 'the cottage' (not) for 5 nights. The standout for us was the rudeness and abruptness of Debbie at reception. As paying clients we were treated as annoyances. There were no batteries for remotes for the air con or TV. No hanging space for clothes. Mould in bathroom. Bedside lamp held together with sticky tape and fell apart when turned on...no replacement, no apology, told 'i don't want it, throw it in the bin.' No covered verandah - it was a 3 ft wide concrete pad with 3 chairs and a large table. Microwave situated on top of fridge and unreachable. Yes, 'the cottage' was spacious, but also cheap and grubby feeling.,,,a reflection of the business acumen of owners.

Well my partner and I stayed here in June 2022 for two weeks, and the park is disgusting no grass all dirt, amenities only get cleaned every second day Nothing over the weekend. Rubbish bins full in amenities and all over the floor from the fruit pickers which the owners complain about. If you go for a shower take a torch, the lights go out ( but been checked by an electrician says all good and working he needs to hand back his license) about 530 - 6 pm every night. I’ve complained six days straight and so have a lot of other people in the park. Owners don’t want to do anything about fixing the problem. So if your going to stay in Bowen anytime soon as a grey nomad DONT I’m not even going rate this park It’s filth This pic I’ve taken is with my flash on. No lights
