The staff at Hotel de France were extremely kind and helpful. We lucked out with what was likely one of the largest rooms in the hotel, although we paid the standard rate. It was a lovely stay in the heart of Bordeaux. Note: At this time it would be best to book your stay on a weekend as there is construction going on across the street currently and can be quite loud. Also, be sure to book any wine tours in advance if possible - many chateaus are not open for tasting on Sundays so plan accordingly.

This is definitely a two stars hotel for ... a hefty price! Yes, the hotel is very conveniently located in the heart of the city but ... boy! The rooms are small and old; the bathroom is tiny (you can barely sit on the toilet seat) and you quickly feel claustrophobic. Service is kind but ... they really don't have much to offer. For the price of €65-70/night, you might add €20 or so and find a much better place in Bordeaux.

Brilliant location, walk to everywhere, 3 minutes from tram stop from railway station. Near several good restaurants ( next road West or Gambetta wg Grand CAfe). Rooms are smallish but perfectly adequate, nice clean bathroom / shower. Owner helpful eg bags, and friendly too. Strong wifi. Gave us code for late returns. Minor drawbacks - no lift; bit of street noise until eg midnight. Good value too.

I stayed in this hotel for a nice weekend in Bordeaux. In general the location is very good, in the heart of the city. The staff is also kind and professional. I didn't sign for any breakfast, so I cannot evaluate it, but from what I saw it seemed good. Rooms are very clean and beds super comfortable. However, the room is way too small, especially the bathroom that is in a closet. There is no soundproof, we could hear everything in the nearby rooms. Also there were not a lot of facilities, for instance the power sockets were in the toilet, next to the WC, and at the entrance...but nothing next to the bed. Also, the light switch is incorporated in the bed, so while you sleep, if you hit your head, you turn on the light. The view was inexistent, since there was a wall in front of the window. And finally, no toilet brush, and the water jet in the shower was unstable. In general, the room can pass, if the price was different, I think the way it is now the price is too high compared to what you get.

He viajado mucho y jamás he encontrado un establecimiento como este. Os cuento. Para empezar el hotel no tiene ascensor. Quienes están al cargo de él tienen una simpatia a caballo entre lo funebre y lo despotico. Me dan la habitación 108 que está en el primer piso.¡ Mentira, está en el segundo con una escalera de peldaños para cabras. Entro, voy a colocar la ropa y me encuentro que hay un miniarmario sin puertas, ni cajones ni nada (un hueco en la pared con una balda, mirad la foto) Voy al cuarto de baño para ducharme y me encuentro con un escalón de 35 cm. Lo subo entro en ese habitáculo y...sorpresa cuando quiero entrar en la ducha me encuentro otro escalón semejante al primero, con lo cual desde la ducha hacia la habitación no podía mirar porque padezco de vertigo. Ahora viene lo más gordo: abro la ventana y me encuentro un tubo alibiadero de desagüe por donde salían unos olores fétidos capaces de hacer perder el sentido a una mofeta (ver fotografía), todo ello ubicado en minipatio con unas esplendidas vistas interiores consistentes en tejados de uralita, paredes cochambrosas y un largo etc, etc Hablo con el personal del hotel de todos estos avatares y me contesta que no hay otra habitación. Ante mi disconformidad y desesperación llamo a la policia y antes de que ésta se persone, desaparece el recepcionista. Aguante dos días tapando el tubo de desagüe con una bolsa de plástico y usando la maleta como armario. Al tercer día desaparecí de Burdeos y no paré hasta que estuve en territorio español.
