Here’s what you can expect at the Selina in Boquete! I stayed there for 3 nights. I have travelled to more than 50 countries and I have never seen a more dangerous hotel. Every 5 feet, there is a falling hazard—uneven concrete because of tree roots, concrete that just rises or slopes for no apparent reason; steps that are very high, high, medium, or low. The worst part of these falling hazards is that 90% of the steps and slopes have NO marker. You have to constantly look down so that you don’t trip and fall. It's as if they read the Fall Prevention tips and made sure to break every tip, thereby maximizing your chances of a fall. There is NO way to control room temperature. It was 65 degrees outside. There is no safe in the room. The bathroom sink does not have a sink stopper. You have to WALK to the lobby to ask someone to lift the lid so that water can do down the sink. Coffee creamer and coffee are in a jar, maximizing the risk of cross-contamination, and food-borne illness. There is no spoon in the room. You get to WALK to the lobby to request a spoon, because there is no phone in the room. Half of the towels have threads hanging from the edges. You will receive ONE roll of toilet tissue. There are NO extra rolls in the bathroom. If you run out of tissue, you will need to WALK for a few minutes to the lobby to request one. There is a noticeable pattern of mildew/mold in the bathroom caulking. The wooden coffee/tea stirrers are UNCOVERED, just sitting in a dirty tray. No better way to increase your risk of food-borne illness! When your neighbor takes a shower, you hear the water running. You will spend no less than an hour for any restaurant meal. The servers greet you with a silent gaze and hand you the menu. They present the meal in silence. No chance of them checking in to see if you need anything. If you try to call them, they just ignore you and continue talking with each other. They make you wait for so long for your meal that breakfast cannot take less than an hour. Housekeeping staff came to my room, placed two towels on the bed and LEFT THE BED UNMADE. So I got to walk to reception (several minutes) to ask someone to come and make the bed. If you stay here, you will be sorry. I couldn’t wait to leave. Instead of looking at and enjoying nature, you spend your time navigating every step to make sure that you don’t fall! How did this place pass inspection?
