Le Barn

We really wanted to like this place, but it was one of the worst experiences we’ve ever had at a Hotel. We stayed at Le Barn for a week. We were getting out of the city in search of nature and peace. Firstly, Le Barn is difficult the reach without a car. There is no connecting shuttle between the closest train station and the hotel. They charged us €25 to be picked up from that train station, a 15 minute drive, and we were charged €30 back... The lobby was helpful, but the restaurant was a disaster. Their menu system was completely broken, they force you to use a QR-code website, many of the items were not available, orders would get mixed up, or arrive with completely different ingredients. There seemed to be no presence of management. Staff were unavailable. Most seemed inexperienced, confused and rude. We constantly had to request basic things like water and butter. They often never arrived. Orders would come at random times. Drinks often long after food. Other guests were clearly frustrated by the lack of competence. We witnessed one complain only to be argued back at by staff. Breakfast was mediocre during the week, they add more things on the weekend. As other reviews have mentioned, there were wasps flying all over the buffet. It was not a tranquil experience. There was heavy machinery doing construction by the lake, forcing us to leave. The hotel was filled with groups doing teambuilding activities - separate from the guests. They had their own food, drinks. They frequently blasted loud dance music in the afternoon, ruining the ambiance. Because of these activities, there was no space to work at the hotel, only a loud lobby area. There aren't even any comfortable seats in the garden, only a few camping chairs. The room was fine, but our bathroom had a plumbing problem and stunk of stale water. Cleaners never replaced toilet-paper, tea or coffee. I could go on and on… For the amount you pay you should get kinder service, good food and the tranquility of the French countryside promised on their website. I don’t recommend anybody stay here.

We checked in after a long car journey and were pleasantly surprised by Le Barn - it was all we'd hoped for with plenty of outdoor space for our dog to stretch her legs and a relaxed feel that meant she could accompany us for drinks on the terrace and a very nice dinner in the bistro. Unfortunately it's the bedrooms that let this place down, the door to the room is external and goes straight into the bedroom. It's functional and utilitarian in design, not massive (but then we didn't book the most expensive room). We travelled in Spring so it wasn't super hot but we could have done with some fresh air in the night and there is no air con, ceiling fan or ability to open a window (there are none). Opening the door to the outside isn't an option when you're travelling with a dog or children (as many of the other guests were). Whilst I understand the environmental reasons for not having air conditioning, not being able to open a window is surely a massive design flaw. We had intended to use this place regularly as a pit stop on our journeys between the south of France and the UK but the thought of a room here in the height of summer with no air con or windows fills us with horror. What a shame, could have been perfect...

Un magnifique emplacement, des espaces communs très conviviaux, bains nordiques et hammam très agréables. Notre chambre donnait sur le champ des poneys shetlands : un vrai dépaysement. Personnel extrêmement cordial dans toutes les situations.

Oreillers trop durs, et trop nombreux. Pas de rideau dans la chambre, ce qui fait que si vous souhaitez avoir une certaine intimité, c'est peine perdue (et j'avais une chambre à l'étage !) La cavalière sur son cheval qui passe près de la chambre voit tout ce qui se passe dans celle ci ! Pas de verre ni gobelet dans la salle de bains. Livres trouvés sur la table de chevet, et pleins de poussière... quand vous ouvrez ceux ci, il y a une mention super accueillante : livre volé à la bibliothèque du Barn... (alors que je ne suis pas allé sur cet espace !!) Le petit déjeuner (enfin...de nom) est décevant : peu de produits (pris le pdj vers 7h30), la machine à café buggait dès qu'une personne était servie, obligeant le personnel à venir s'en occuper, peu de choix sur le buffet (ou alors nous sommes passés trop tôt ?) A l'arrivée (nous avions des chambres réservées par notre société), on nous a demandé un numéro de carte bancaire à chacun d'entre nous (pour soi disant se prémunir de consommations que nous pourrions prendre dans le minibar, et partir sans payer !!), je déteste cette suspicion... Non, cet hôtel (affichant 4 étoiles ??) est loin des standards que je connais et fréquente.. décevant. Seul point positif : l'emplacement en pleine campagne, reposant

Une équipe au grand cœur, tant dans l'assiette que dans les services de l'hôtel : tout est juste. Un séjour hors du temps, promettant détente et dépaysement. Vous y rencontrerez des professionnels, aimant leurs métiers, et les réalisant avec brio. Les chambres sont authentiques et plus qu'agréables, la cuisine est délicieuse et le spa vraiment relaxant. Résultat : des estomacs bien remplis, du repos à n'en plus finir. Un sincère merci à toute l'équipe du Barn !

Excellent séjour au Barn ! Le site est magnifique, en pleine nature, avec un accès direct à la forêt, le tout au milieu des chevaux. Les chambres sont très sympas, nous avions une très belle vue sur l'étang et la forêt, très dépaysant dès notre réveil. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié l'accueil et la gentillesse du personnel. Nous avons profité des vélos, des bains nordiques et des cours de yoga très qualitatifs ! Nous reviendrons, c'est certain !
