The Editory Artist Baixa Porto Hotel

This is a wonderful boutique hotel with a fantastic staff that welcomes you with a glass of port. . The rooms are spacious, modern and comfortable. The location is perfect—on a quiet street just a five-minute walk from the heart of the action. I would gladly stay here again.

We had such a great stay here! The staff are so sweet and welcoming, and the amenities are fantastic given the price. The location is good- close enough to be able to walk to most places comfortably, but in a quiet corner of downtown. I would note that the entire city is very hilly, so if you're planning to walk to Ribeira, Vila Nova de Gaia, or the areas surrounding Livraria Lello, it's a fairly steep uphill climb back up to the hotel.

Hotel was very central. Upon arrival we were greeted with a glass of Port and very friendly staff. We were given a map of Porto and lots of advice on where to visit for our 3 day stay. The room was clean and spacious and they did give us our upgraded room as requested..I had booked a twin but requested a double! Breakfast was ample with a freshly cooked option each morning upon request. Plenty of options and staff were very attentive. We were very impressed with recommendations given by the staff for places to eat and they were spot on with their advice on dos and donts. Overall we had a great stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

I was looking forward to staying here, but my first impression of this hotel was negative. My room wasn’t ready 2 hours after check-in and I had to come back twice for it to be ready. The staff just had excuses for why it was not ready, and no one bothered to contact me at 3pm when they knew it wouldn’t be. Left a very bad taste in my mouth and wouldn’t recommend staying here. I ended up at an Airbnb the rest of the trip and had a much much better experience!

This hotel was formerly an art school. Now a hotel, it proudly displays the paintings and sculptures of its former students. The dining room is run as a cooking school for people interested in hotel management. Walking distance to downtown. Great neighborhood restaurant nearby. It closed during Covid, now reopened.

The staff are very welcoming and friendly, the hotel itself is also very clean. Beds are comfy and I slept well. Breakfast was a little awkward, I sat there for 10 mins waiting but had to go back to reception just to get a cup of coffee. Having to ask each time you would like a fresh cup is not conducive to a relaxing start to the morning, There is a limited selection but what is there is good quality. But overall the hotel is lovely, about a 20 minutes walk to the port.

When planning a recent trip to run the Porto half marathon I did what I always did (accommodation is very important to me) I researched hotel reviews on Tripadvisor. The common thread running through all the reviews was the amazing staff and how much they went out of their way to help you have a pleasant stay. This is definitely true. They were the most pleasant people from front of house to really helpful catering staff that I had encountered in a long time. The hotel is really lovely and so was our room, it was lovely and bright. We had a very large bathroom with a large window so it too was lovely and bright. The breakfast room was absolutely lovely with a great selection of food and when I requested some fried eggs it wasn't a problem . The day I ran the half marathon when my friend and I returned we fancied some tea and cake so they sent to the kitchen for some delicious cake for us and arranged a place at the table, it really was such a lovely touch, we really appreciated it! I'd stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat! Porto is a lovely place to visit and so much to see and do. The hotel is walkable to the old town but in a nice area that is quiet enough to get a good nights sleep. A final word on taxis in Porto because I feel I need to mention it. We got a taxi from the official queue outside the airport to the hotel and the guy was lovely. We ordered two from the hotel and they were lovely also. We did pick a taxi up ourselves going back to the hotel late and I gave the taxi person the address and showed it to him on google maps. I have a small amount of Portuguese and he gave me the correct amount the fare would cost. He didn't put the meter on and he just kept driving and wouldn't engage with me when I asked him to stop. He was driving like a ****** and I had to facetime my daughter in law who is Brazilian and fluent in Portuguese to try and engage with him but he only engaged with her when we were two minutes from the hotel. We finally got back to the hotel and he ran in ahead of us and tried to blame us for giving him the wrong hotel address to the receptionist, it was so dishonest and a frightening experience for me and my friend as at one stage we wanted to jump out at the lights but he broke the red light (needless to say I didn't have a good half marathon). My daughter in-law never mentioned the address of the hotel so he knew all along where we needed to go. A truly awful experience. Don't let the taxi situation put you off visiting Porto as unfortunately scams go on everywhere and Porto is a great place to visit you just need to be mindful and someone did mention it to us on the queue at the airport taxi rank about being careful. We got the taxi number off the taxi person that the hotel called for us and we rang him when we wanted a taxi.

Highly recommend staying at this boutique hotel which was a former art school and now has beautiful decor and furnishings throughout. The location is excellent, quiet street, only 10 mins walk to centre of Porto, however it is really the staff that make this place extra special. From the moment on arrival you are greeted warmly , welcomed with a glass of Porto and huge efforts made by all staff we met to make sure we did not want for anything. Breakfast has choice of continental and hot buffet style room with twin beds was v spacious with large ensuite and well equipped

Fantastic hotel, huge rooms, huge bathrooms. Fantastic service. Very comfortable beds, pilows. So many little things provided for you. Great location in a quiet and safe area. Short walk to many attractions. Very nice showers, even has a bidet.
