Grace Chapinero

This was a nicely located (in Chapinero), somewhat funky, boutique hotel with clean rooms. Although I speak very little Spanish, the staff were patient and always pleasant. The restaurant was convenient and served good food. The only "concerns" I had were the absence of an elevator and adequate ventilation. The former was challenging to this basically fit 70 year old male carrying luggage up two floors at about 8500 feet above sea level. The larger loft room understandably lacked an air conditioner, but it had only one small panel window for ventilation. The loft got quite warm for me, in the afternoon. Nonetheless, it was a safe and comfortable hotel near numerous restaurants and bars. More than worth the cost and worthly of consideration on my next trip to Bogota.

The bed is good. Breakfast is good (kitchen and late night staff, all very kind). Be careful before booking, they will give you a rate and once you’re there, they will charge you 20% more, aspect they don’t previously informed. They will put the responsibility on clients’ shoulders when actually are them the ones who are not communicating things appropriately. The girl at the front desk was very patronizing about it, btw. And rude. Bathroom extractor did not work, and they didn’t fix it saying that the technician doesn’t work on Sundays. Anyway… there are hotels that will give you a much better experience for $10 more.

Una gran decepción: Grace Chapinero tiene buena ubicación y buena atención. Las habitaciones son cómodas y limpias. El desayuno se sirve en un bar contiguo. La limpieza, provisión de alimentos y servicio es todo lo contrario: el desayunador es sucio, pocos alimentos y los chicos que atendieron el día domingo tenían mal aspecto. Todo esto fue comunicado al recepcionista del hotel. No vale la pena innovar, la relación calidad - precio es mala. Una mala elección No quiero olvidarme: No había pan ni leche caliente para el desayuno. Además, la presencia de los chicos que atendían era impresentable. Los cubiertos estaban igualmente sucios. Toda esta incomodidad fue transmitida a los chicos que atendían como así también al conserje del hotel.
