Château Grattequina Hôtel

We stayed at Chateau Grattequina from 20-27 October 2024 in a River View Room. The Chateau itself is probably the most beautiful place that I've stayed in thus far. This is evident from the moment you pass through the gates down the very long driveway. Everything about the grounds is relaxing and calm. We visited Bordeaux to take part in a few wine tours and this location was divine for us. The Chateau is not within the city proper which made it ideal for us as it was very quiet, peaceful and tranquil after a day exploring the city or wineries. Each night we were able to relax and decompress from the day. The breakfast was great not heavy and had the best croissants we had tasted. The dinner menu is not huge but that did not detract from the property as uber eats was always available. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We did not speak much French when we came but the staff were understanding and helped us to practice conversing in French while there. The views from our room, the dinning area, the sitting area, the reception area were all astounding. Our room itself was beautiful with two closets for our items a toilet and separate washroom which was massive with his and hers sinks, rain shower, and large tub. The Chateau is 20 mins from Bordeaux city centre by Uber which was very convenient. I generally don't need much where I am staying when I travel as I spend most of my time exploring but this was an experience for a reasonable price. It may have been a bit more expensive than other hotels in Bordeaux but being able to stay in this chateau is an experience worth the added costs. I would like to return in the summer at some point as there was also a sauna and pool on site that we were not able to access due to the cold weather.

What a delight to be in this elegant, quiet chateau, after days of city travel. The rooms are spacious, with windows that open onto views of the Garonne River or the gardens and pool. The chateau has been very sympathetically restored to its former glory, and yet it is as modern in every respect as any traveler could want. The staff are so friendly, helpful and easily speak English as “my French is horrible “. They secured me a taxi , with ease, as I was not driving. Breakfasts are exactly what I hoped for- fresh croissant, pain au chocolates, fresh fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice, creamy scrambled eggs and bacon, and all the extras. Who could ask for more? I had 4 glorious nights here…and highly recommend it to any travellers.

We appreciated our elegant, bright, spacious room, the peaceful setting and above all, the delightful service we received from the two women at reception. This kind of genuinely friendly welcome and desire to please has become rare in the industry. Many thanks for keeping that spirit alive!

This is our second trip to Chateau Grattequina. A wonderful place to stay. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Recommendations for vineyards and restaurants beyond expectations! We will be returning!

We had an amazing experience, that we ended up extending 1 more night. The staff Elodie and the gentleman that was working in the evening was super nice and had great recommendations. I great place to relax away from the city.

A stunning chateaus on the banks of the Goronde 10 minites by car or cruser from central bordeaux. The rooms as spacious, well appointed and beautiifully finished. Fabulous breakfast and lovely staff.
