Bishopstrow Hotel and Spa - Small Luxury Hotels of the World

My husband was recently given an afternoon tea experience gift so we chose this venue to come on my birthday weekend. What a great choice! The afternoon tea itself was delicious, especially the patisseries and it also included a complimentary glass of champagne. But what really made it was the warm welcome and excellent customer service from Ross and his colleagues James, Elliot and Oliver. Afterwards we took a wander through the immaculate grounds were there were some great facilities. a pool, bar, spa and courtyard rooms. I would definitely love to come and stay! On arrival, we were upgraded to a suite with private hot tub and shown to our room by a staff member and made to feel very welcome. The room was stunning, clean and spacious with a real feeling of luxury, perfect for a relaxing long weekend. The grounds were well-kept and enjoyed exploring them. There were plenty of sun beds and chairs to relax around without feeling cramped together. It was interesting as well to see the kitchen garden where they grow a lot of the produce for their food. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. The service was friendly and faultless. We treated ourselves to a massage treatment in the spa and both the staff members who did these were professional, welcoming and we felt in no way rushed. Although this was an expensive hotel, we believe it was worth the money for a treat. The whole experience was brilliant from start to end, with little touches which made it special. When we have another special occasion in a few years, we will definitely be back.

Wonderful hotel! The location and grounds are really spacious and has an aura of calmness, open for all guests to roam. The horticulture was just stunning and well maintained. The staff are extremely friendly and provide such a comfortable stay. Room request before and during the stay were all catered for. Our room had a private garden which was so beautiful the family all enjoyed and were extremely clean and tidy. Finally the spa was tip top! Differently a great idea to stop here before going into Longleat!

Absolutely beautiful spa and hotel. Every single member of staff we encountered, from the hotel reception to the spa staff, including the restaurant staff and bar tender, were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. We were shown around the entire spa (which is, hands down, the best spa I've ever visited) which included a relaxation room, sauna, steam room and monsoon shower, gym, recently renovated changing rooms, indoor pool and jacuzzi, outdoor pool and jacuzzi. Surrounding the outdoor pool were numerous sun loungers and bean bags. The spa has recently had renovations and some areas were still being completed however this did not affect our visit whatsoever. I had a massage and facial by Lizzie which was incredible. Lizzie made me feel very comfortable and asked if there were any particular areas I'd like her to focus on. I bought some of the Elemis products Lizzie used for my facial. The food was outstanding, as were the cocktails, and we were well looked after by the waiting staff. The hotel and spa is set in beautiful surroundings, the entire day was perfect from start to finish. Thank you to everyone at Bishopstrow, we've already looked at booking a spa retreat in the not so distant future!

Our three night stay at Bishopstrow Hotel was a delight from start to finish. A warm welcome set the tone of well-being, ease and comfort. Every member of staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Our bedroom was beautifully furnished and with every comfort. The en-suite was spacious and a pleasure to use. We had our own outdoor mini garden in which to relax , rest and access the beautiful grounds. We still remember the delicious and healthy food eg a fab meal of grilled rainbow trout which we chose broccoli,padron peppers and grilled courgettes to accompany. I relive that meal as I write.Yum! Locally, there were interesting places to visit from Stourhead House, Palladian home of the Hosre family , Stonehenge and Clark’s bargain outlet ( think Osprey bags!). The indoor and outdoor pools were warm. We had the perfect stay .As your uplifting signage commented “Tootle pip!”, we can’t wait to return. Thank you to you all.

An absolutely excellent stay for three nights at this lovely spa hotel in Wiltshire. The staff were great and friendly without being too ‘stuffy’. The hotel allows dogs and makes a lovely fuss of any that visit. Plenty of ground to enjoy for both dogs and their humans. The spa is excellent with heated pools and assorted treatments to book. Rooms are very well done out in a slightly 1930s theme. Dinning is spot on. Nothing too fancy but well cooked, presented and locally sourced. Staff went above and beyond to help us with a slight family emergency when we suddenly needed to have one more guest stay due to train cancellations. Fortunately it all worked out and was not needed but the place really did well to assist us.

Although we have styed at Bishopstrow several times in the past, we chose this amazing hotel once again to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. It really is one of the best hotels we have stayed in, over the years for so many reasons. On arrival we received such a lovely welcome and were immediately taken to a gorgeous room with a hot tub and small garden (no 34). The room was spotless, airy, beautifully decorated & appointed and as we enjoyed such lovely weather, we also made use of the very large hot tub. Drinks in one of the three spacious lounges is a must and we would seriously advise partaking of a cocktail or two before dinner as these are delicious. On the first night we enjoyed a wonderful dinner on our own and on the second night there were four of us. On both occasions, the service was 1st class, friendly, extremely attentive with a lovely bit of polite banter from the serving team who really made sure we were having a great time. The food though was truly sublime and out of this world. The menu is extensive, locally sourced and promoting local suppliers with prices for everyone. I chose the grilled prawns on both nights, with utterly scrummy Wiltshire lamb on the 1st night followed by the delicious very tender duck. Large portions, (unusual today in so many hotels) and so tasty. We chose to have breakfast delivered to our room as a real treat, and treat is really is. The bish, bash, bosh breakfast is utterly amazing - do try the hand made fruit yogurt granola. Overall a truly magical and very memorable experience for us to remember. What a treat, Myself and my Wife booked a overnight stay here as part of our Honeymoon, from the minute we arrived nothing was too much for the staff and they were amazingly courteous and helpful, they treated us to a glass of fizz and some chocolates to recognise our Honeymoon, The whole place is gorgeous, the setting, the land the facilities just amazing. As for the food what a treat both dinner and breakfast were incredible. It is just too difficult to find fault with anything in this area it is just absolutely perfect. Thank you so much Bishopstrow for making the last leg of our Honeymoon feel so special.

We stayed for 3 nights and just wish it could have been longer. The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings and has maintained its character from the outside being built around 1815. Once inside the oldy worldly charm is maintained in most of the downstairs lounges and continues upstairs to the bedroom which gives you feeling of going back in time but with some modern features. We had a roomy room which was spacious and the bathroom was huge and contained a roll top bath and seperate walk in shower. The room was spotlessly clean as were the lounges. The modern twist comes in the dining areas which are bright and airy. We ate twice in the evening and the food, whilst not cheap, was absolutely fantastic and worth every penny. Breakfast was included and the choice in our opinion was sufficient and again well presented and super tasty. We each had a spa treatment which we both enjoyed and found the facilities perfectly fine. The indoor pool was of a good size and heated and the jacuzzi was small tho adequate but a little TLC required to this. We didn’t use the outside pool but had a peek and it did look inviting. The icing on the cake is certainly the staff who make guests feel totally at ease with a friendly can do attitude and cheerful nature, I would go as far as to say the best staff in any hotel we have stayed in. A special thanks to Megan & Lauren in the restaurant who provided wonderful service and also to Laura in the bar area who we believe is fairly new but again provided wonderful service always with a smile. They are a credit to the hotel. If you are looking for a relaxing break with great food, great rooms, beautiful setting and great staff then give this hotel a try, you won’t be disappointed
