I can't bear to think this wonderful tranquil place so close to the centre of Birmingham is under threat of closure or bought out by some ghastly chain! I loathe the modern souless Premier Inns or claustrophobic boutique hotels where I feel smothered by cushions, carpets and furnishings and distressed by unecessary daily towel changes because I know its hammering the planet. I love the simplicity of Woodbroke which is not to say my room was lacking in any way - it felt old fashioned in the best way, light and airy with a nice en suite shower room, kettle and tea etc. making facilities. Security chain on the (ground floor) window made it feel secure. Wonderful views of the 10 or so acre beautiful mature gardens and orchard peaceful to boot. Lovely breakfast with everything you could wish for.
