Hotel Marqués de Santillana

We wanted a stop close to Santander to be at port for mid-day next morning. this seemed a possibility with restaurant options close by. Attracted by unrealistic suggestions of plentiful easy nearby parking - yes some of it's free (albeit a lot less in reality than is suggested) and there is a lot of double parking by residents waiting to find a space to park their car in the spaces that are truly free - for several blocks around. In the end 2 and a half hours after arrival I finally parked in Town Hall car park €11.95 for 24 hours. Difficult to find way in and because of roadworks way out and obviously not close to hotel for unloading - nowhere to do so outside hotel! Torrelavega is a nightmare to get into and out of! Very slow zones, roadworks and lack of signage to quick exit! Allow a good hour if not 90 minutes to be at Santander port. Local restaurant La Tienda in nearby church square provided good tapas style options for eating - but not before 8:00 PM. Hotel is a bit tired - next door is a car workshop - but we were not disturbed by that. No air conditioning so stuffy and airless and window opens onto a walkway so not secure enough to leave open at night. No room safe to keep valuables secure whilst out for a meal! Bed comfortable enough and bathroom all OK - good shower - sensible height possible. Clean and basic - it claims 3 stars ??? Couldn't find an English speaking news station on TV

Excellent location; right in the center of the city. Many places to eat. Hotel was very clean; rooms were very clean and staff was very friendly. No parking in the hotel; that is a minus, but you can find parking around.

The hotel was pretty central and ok for an overnighter before moving on. Some cafes nearby.

Arrived late but checked in no problem. All we wanted for a pre ferry stop. Thanks

One night stop before next day ferry to UK. Very clean, large room and large bright bathroom. Very comfortable but no air con. Free parking was on street and hit or miss for space outside hotel. No bar, only used for breakfast but location very central and numerous bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.

Tal y como he leído en otras reseñas, hotel a medio remodelar, con ganas de ...pero no. En la habitación cero decoración y las paredes tan finas que se oye absolutamente todo. El baño...no se ni por dónde empezar....la puerta hacia ruido (cosa fácil de solucionar). Bañera, lavabo y váter antiguos. No hay donde poner las cosas porque el lavabo está inclinado y se cae todo. La bañera ...mampara de 3 hojas que se separaban completamente, grifo antiguo en el que tienes que cuidar de no quemarte y regular bien, la alcachofa no se podía poner arriba porque con la presión se iba hacia levantaba (otra cosa fácil de solucionar apretando el tornillo) y el agua salía al mismo tiempo por la alcachofa que por el grifo. El desayuno...por 8€ debería de haber más variedad (algo caliente, huevos, bacon,...), más cantidad, el fiambre estaba racionado. Como positivo diré que al avisarles de que soy celiaca me pusieron pan y magdalenas. Pagamos más de 180€ por esto y porque lo reservamos por teléfono. En Booking nos saldría por 242€. Un abuso y una vergüenza.

Digamos primero lo bueno: el personal es amable. Ahora todo lo demás. Es un lugar descuidado, antiguo, decrépito. Parece que han intentado hacerle un maquillaje al recibidor de entrada, pero ni siquiera eso está a la altura de un supuesto hotel con 3 estrellas. En cuanto cruzas esa frontera, todo resulta muy desagradable y sorprendente. Las escaleras sombrías, el siniestro ascensor y los pasillos con aspecto abandonado anuncian el terror de la habitación. Al entrar en la estancia, notas pronto que todo está impregnado de un sutil aroma a humedad mohosa y parece que masticas polvo al respirar. El mobiliario, desgastado y viejo, no parece haber sido nunca elegido con mimo. No hay decoración alguna. La pared donde descansa el cabecero de la cama parece haber quedado a medio hacer y se resquebraja. El sintasol del suelo está rasgado en muchos sitios. Encuentro unas extrañas salpicaduras en el marco de la puerta del baño, donde el techo presenta manchad de humedad (o quizás es un guiño a Altamira, es posible que vean ustedes un búfalo) y un halógeno parpadea (el ambiente tétrico no se hace solo). Por si fuera poco, no ofrecen ni gel ni champú. En definitiva: no es un hotel, es una pensión cutre. Menos mal que me pagaban la estancia y que solo fue una noche.

Todo super limpio ,los trabajadores del hotel encantadores y el desayuno increíble , ya he ido dos veces pero volveré
