Villa Emerald – Charis Pool Villas The Charis Pool Villas is located in Janda Baik, some 50km from Kuala Lumpur city center. On moderately heavy traffic the drive will take around 1 hour and a bit. It would be a 3-stage journey. A single three lanes carriageway from Kuala Lumpur to Genting Sempah, a two-way trunk road on the old Kuala Lumpur-Bentong road and finally a two-way even narrower trunk road up to Janda Baik and Charis Pool Villas. My family stayed at the Villa Emerald for 4 days and 3 nights recently. Our staycation was on weekdays, so the property was quiet with few other guests staying in other villas. The Villa Emerald is a 3-bedroom (with en-suite bathroom) villa with an open sky indoor private pool located along the walkway to the bedrooms. According to Ruby, the caretaker, it is the biggest villa in Charis. A dedicated BBQ Gazebo, the Chemperoh River (to wade in) and a small fishpond of red tilapia are also located just outside the villa. It rained during our staycation. And the rain poured over the pool area which caused the walkway to be quite slippery. Therefore need to tread the walkway to the bedrooms slowly and safely. Ruby, the caretaker, is warm, friendly and responsive to our requests. Please note that air conditioning is available only in the bedrooms, and a ceiling fan. There is no air conditioning in the living and adjoining dining area. Only one ceiling fan over the living area. The living room is fully furnished and also equipped with an LCD TV with Netflix. The bathroom comes with bath towels, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. The dining area is equipped with a large square table for 8 people. The kitchen is equipped with a Hisense Refrigerator, a Rubine Oreo Microwave, a Khind Electric Kettle, a Philips Bread Toaster, a Panasonic Rice Cooker, a Teka Stove (1 burner only) and a Kelen Munoz Air fryer. It is also equipped with Cooking Utensils, Plates & Bowls, Cutleries, Glasses & Cups. Also provided were complimentary coffee and tea, salt and sugar and a small bottle of cooking oil. The tap water is drinkable as it is filtered by Pentair Everpure water filter system. The First Aid Box is on the refrigerator. An ironing board and a Philips iron are also provided. The caretaker will collect 100 Ringgit Malaysia (RM) cash on check-in as deposit. The money will be returned upon checkout if there are no breakage or damage to the items in the villa. My wife accidentally dropped a bowl and broke it (because it was slippery) while taking it out from the refrigerator. RM20 was deducted from the RM100 deposit when we checked out. As the Villa Emerald is located in the high altitude Janda Baik, the air is fresh and cool, and a bit chilly at night. The area is calm and peaceful, with the occasional sounds of the wildlife from the surrounding jungle. While I rate Villa Emerald a 5-Star homestay, I would like to humbly make a few observations that would make Villa Emerald a household name and a homestay of choice a

A very last minutes plan and never have thought the villa is so nice, clean and comfortable. Kitchen is well equipped with all utensils, can cook, have fridge, can BBQ where the care taker will prepare everything u just need to bring ur frozen meat. Rooms was spacious and toilet is huge. Swimming pool area was pretty and cosy but the pool water was super cold. Nevertheless, the kids have so much fun. The villa is just few steps away to the river, just 5-10mins drive to restaurants and kedai runcit, very convenient to many cafes and strategic location. Weather was chilling especially at night. Quiet place and friendly staff. Will come back again.

Charis Resort is undeniably best resort in Janda Baik! The clearest, crystal clear river and individual indoor private pool. Surprisingly fair price with beyond expectations good service. Friendly staff to assist us setting up the BBQ session. Fresh cooling atmosphere. Have to switch off the air conditioning when it gets too chilly at night. Feels like you are in Europe. Difficult to get a slot during weekends, thus we got a slot during week days. We had fun renting its ATV (Cheapest ATV rental in Janda Baik) A great family friendly resort. Highly recommended!

Awesome place for staycation. The owner will ensure you have a great time and they do employ workers to take care of you. Choose villa 1 & 2 if you need to have pool for the kids and villa 3 for nature stay - no indoor pool but you will have outdoor natural pool just out of your doorstep. The barbeque is dedicated so you don't have to 'fight' for it. Complete will basic amenities and well kept in terms of cleaniness and usability. I would recommend anyone to stay here.
