I recently visited The Culloden in Hollywood for afternoon tea as a special birthday treat, but unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. Food was beautiful but was just.... disappointed. From the outset, the service was noticeably lacking. After our food was delivered, no staff checked in on us at any point, which left us feeling a bit forgotten. There was no one present at the till when it came time to pay, and we had to go in search of someone ourselves — not what you'd expect from a venue of this standard. What was meant to be a special birthday occasion felt underwhelming. A staff member did acknowledge the occasion by handing over a birthday slip, but the gesture felt quite cold and impersonal — more of a formality than anything heartfelt. I ended up leaving it on the table as just wanted to go. Additionally, the afternoon tea menu we were served was different from what was advertised on the website, and we were charged £5 more per person than expected. This lack of transparency was disappointing and added to the overall feeling that the experience did not live up to expectations. The young gentleman who served us was fantastic, but wasn't to be seen again, no staff on the floor at all. Given the reputation of The Culloden, I had hoped for a more polished and attentive experience. Unfortunately, this visit missed the mark.
