The Montagu Arms

We recently returned to the Montagu Arms following our incredible wedding there last year. (If you are looking for wedding venue, please, please check this place out!) We stayed for our first year anniversary. A complimentary stay, kindly gifted to us last year. When we arrived, we were surprised with a room upgrade to the beautiful Hayloft Barn Suites. Wow!! These suites are stunning. A gorgeous comfy king size bed, a huge bathroom, underfloor heating, a mezzanine floor with a lovely lounge area. There are also so many little added touches and that really make this room special. Once in the room we were greeted with a lovely anniversary card and some chocolates! Such a lovely touch! It’s hard to find enough positive words to describe our experience with this hotel! It’s in a stunning setting, the hotel itself is beautiful with lots of history. It always smells incredible, (we’ve found out since that it’s the montagu arms scent which is exclusive to the hotel!). They celebrate each season there with different displays and added additions .. but the absolutely best thing about this hotel is the staff… they make each visit memorable. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They gave us star treatment the first time we called in on a random Saturday asking to check out the place as a potential wedding venue and they have treated us the same way ever since! Went for a couple drinks and a bite to eat to celebrate a friends success straight away I was welcomed by staff when food came out it was very presentable and the taste was immaculate was very impressed with the service this one lady Lisa accompanied us most of the night and met all of our requirements lovely lady would recommend to locals or if your visiting will be going back for sure brilliant restaurant and hotel.

The service and the restaurant food were very good. The pub area was chilly at lunchtime so we decamped to the main hotel where there was a log fire. The room was also comfortable and the grounds were interesting, very well kept and worth a wander. They were quite unique and would be their best in summer. Yes we would return.
