I have been to Walt Disney World over thirty times. I love it and always stay at WDW resorts because I believe it makes the entire stay more magical. This trip was planned to celebrate my parents’ 44th anniversary. I have never complained about any hotel here that we have stayed at. YThis has been my worst stay. Upon arrival, the construction level and disruption was unparalleled to anything we have ever experienced. There was no organization to the makeshift front area where valet and bell services had to do their jobs. This was not their fault. They were doing the best with what they had. It was completely unsightly and I wish this was told us before we booked because I never would’ve chosen this resort. An email with a couple weeks warning doesn’t suffice. When we arrived in the lobby, it reminded me more of Penn Station. People lingering with no where to go. Some sitting on the ground with their bags. There was one mother who laid out a blanket in the middle of the lobby and laid her two twin infants down to nap. Granted I know her room probably wasn’t ready, but this seemed inappropriate for the lobby of a deluxe resort. Some accommodation should’ve been offered to her so she didn’t take up an entire area. When we got to our room on the third floor above the pool area, the smell of kitchen grease was overwhelming. As soon as we opened the doors to our balcony, the smell overtook our entire room. They changed our room for us, but it put my parents and me on opposite sides of the hotel. This trip was supposed to bring us together and being so far apart made things difficult. The pool was chaotic. People reserving chairs to never return. Debris and garbage floating in the pool. Long incredible waits for food and drinks. It seemed like the hotel was understaffed. The situation that pushed me over the edge was when a woman at the pool reserved 5 chairs and we asked if my daughter could have one of her chairs to sit and eat her lunch and she rudely declined. When I confronted her on this, she told me I was a bad mother. I do want to mention that Jayden from the Yacht Club staff at the pool restaurant was wonderful. He helped my parents with directions and again was very kind at the pool restaurant. I’m giving the review 2 stars because they did give us a $100 credit for our experience, but I do want to warn others that this resort left us not only underwhelmed, but disappointed. I don’t want other families to make the same mistake in booking this hotel, especially while it’s under construction. It made my parents anniversary trip memorable, but definitely not in a good way.
