Bath YMCA Hostel

Great little hostal hidden in the middle of Bath. Great helpful service and rooms quite confortable. The kitchen is great, and it is packed with all the utensils you would need.

Nice quiet place with a private room and a view. I did have trouble finding it,; it's hidden inside a courtyard. Otherwise, no hassles.

The room was really maintained. It was a bit chilly as the radiator seemed out of order. But overall the amenities were sufficient. The availability of hot kettle with tea and coffees were really convenient. I'd love to stay again sometime.(picture below is the view from our room)

The staff are nice and ready to help for all day. The Wi-Fi is good and the room is very clean. The only problem is that there is a charge if you want to store the luggage after check-out, which is disappointing, to be fair.

On arrival my charging port has a broken plug stuck inside it. When speaking to staff at the reception he told me to just keep trying. He offered to keep my phone at the desk but other than that “maintenance was unavailable”. Eventually after going to the desk 3 times, my bed was moved. There was a huge hole in the ceiling with water damage. Men in my room made noise all night talking loudly and even one appearing by my bed side at 1am watching me until i noticed he was there. The man in the bunk over mine (who was the same one watching me) was committing acts on himself at the early hours of the morning around 7am shaking the bed and making noises. Highly disturbed. Hostels are known to not be the safest of places but that was incredibly unnerving plus the multiple men in the bathroom in the morning indecent just walking around. i understand it’s a shared space but there needs to be some kind of aspect of reassurance that you’re safe. Rules need to be put in place to stop people from having to deal with these kind of things. Breakfast was offered but i felt highly uncomfortable to go into the room with that man in there. Do not recommend to anyone especially to female travellers!!!

A bit walk from center, nice breakfast in weekends but so noisy in the evening from pub outside
