Rooms are not properly cleaned or maintained, with mould in bathrooms and on ceiling tiles, lights not properly fixed, broken lockers, air conditioning was broken, greasy toilet, and the list goes on. We travelled as a group of students and staff and stayed here for a week but unfortunately the accommodation was not as expected. The check-in process was chaotic and took hours whilst the hostel staff kept on requesting different requirements which were not made clear to us before arriving. Tourist tax and deposits had to be paid in cash in two lump sums. We ended up paying €6.48 more since they could’t provide us change. While this may seem minor, it resulted in our group being charged unnecessarily extra. The food at the hostel wasn’t worth it and groups have restricted half an hour time slots to eat and clean up. At check out the reception staff told us half our deposit money is missing and said there is nothing they can do about this, that it wasn’t their responsibility. It turned out some students who checked out earlier received their deposits but the lack of clear management systems was very concerning. Unfortunately the hostel lacks proper management, clear communication, and basic hospitality standards. I would not stay here again. The location is very convenient. If only it was properly managed, maintained and cleaned, this could have been a great place.

We stayed at Urbany Barcelona Hostel in November with a big group of students. The Hostel was clean but very very cold. We tried to get them to turn up the heat but the staff at the reception said that they where not allowed to turn it up. It was freezing in the rooms. And the hostel in overall was not in the best condition. Pretty worn out. But overall the staff was nice and the location was excellent.

While staying here one of the pipes burst and from floor four down the roof was leaking. None of the staff did anything to help and majority left to get ice cream and make tiktoks. While explaining what happened a member of staff started shouting into my face. Eventually they turned off the water and after persistently asking the called the fire brigade so the building could be deemed safe to stay in.

Rooms: In our rooms, we had bunk beds, which were hard to get on and off, so you have to be very careful. The air-conditioning can not be altered, meaning the temperature is either hot or cold, not in between. When someone has had a shower, a wet patch appears on the floor and is kept damp for a while. Bathrooms: The bathroom has an automatic light, meaning when you're in the shower, it turns off. You can turn it back on by slightly opening the door, but it doesn't long. The shower is operated by button, so you do have to keep pressing it. Service: Not all rooms get a tag that they can put on their door to deny door service, meaning that they can just enter your room. With this, all of us had at least one item of food stolen, whether it was open or not. They emptied the rubbish bin in the bathroom and left items that were clearly rubbish on the floor. Apart from this, breakfast in the morning was nice and they staff were polite and tried their best with English. Location: The views of the hotel are lovely and you can see the sea from the rooms. From the hotel you can walk to the beach which is approximately a mile, there is a mall nearby either public transport available in the form of busses and the metro. There are little shops nearby where you can purchase drinks and snacks and the people are lovely.

The worst experience. Smelled like sweat in the room. dirty sheets with stains and filthy bathroom floor. No fresh air, hot during the night, unsafe neighborhood during night with guys on the street shouting at you. unfriendly staff. Felt more like a prison. They couldnt make me happy with another room because the stained beds where there as well.
