Haigs Hotel

I’ve just written to thank Haigs as follows: I’m also plant based and rarely go out for meals preferring to eat from our own kitchen. We are so pleased that a friend told us about your plant based night. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening with you yesterday. The staff were very pleasant, prompt and helpful. The food was delicious. It was served with just the right gap in between courses, not to long and not to short. Nice ambience. Excellent pricing. A very successful evening. High praise to everyone concerned. Thank you one and all.

My wife & I paid extra & booked a "superior" room & whilst it was somewhat dated & a little scruffy it was okay, that is until we entered the bathroom. The shelf above the toilet & sink had partly collapsed & there was a half inch gap around it. Some tiles were cracked & the sealant around the sink & toilet where they met the floor had been applied extremely roughly, obviously not done by a tradesman as it was so shoddy. The toilet only half flushed, possibly there was a brick in the system to save water, but if so it didn't work because it had to be flushed twice on every use. The shower didn't work as it was lukewarm at best, despite pulling the separate cord to switch it on, so we had to use the bath. We decided to stay as the bedroom was adequate & the hotel has several eating establishments & convenience shops just around the corner, free parking & the wi-fi was okay. The first two nights were okay & it was quiet & we got a good nights sleep, but for the last two nights some people with dogs moved into the room next door & they were noisy, & someone moved into the room above us & whilst the person wasn't nosy, the floorboards creaked & we were woken up early both mornings by them. Throughout the hotel the doors banged - this could easily be solve by fitting soft closures to them. There were no coat hooks in the room, again easily solved in a few minutes. The hotel seems to get good reviews for the dining, of which we didn't partake, & it's such a shame as with a bit of attention (by tradesman not DIY owners) it could be made so much better as it is very well situated (only 5 minutes drive to the NCC. Having spent four nights here we moved to a Premier Inn just up the road & it was so, so much better.

Very good friendly staff, always welcoming and noting is too much. I could stay else where but the family feel and service trumps a posh hotel any day and that's why I've been coming here 2 nights a week for the last year need I say more, a home from home.

We go with the family here regularly. Its such great value for money and the staff are always really nice and attentive. You can tell they are trained well! They have some great themed nights too which are always good fun. I will keep coming back for sure!

I cannot believe we have not been to this hotel for food before It was exceptional and could not fault a thing The staff were so helpful and nothing was to much trouble All the details were perfect This hotel deserves to be on top food ratings We will be back as will use as our local food haunt and will bring friends Balsall common is lucky to have this little gem Very good value

Staff were exceptionally kind and helpful with assisting my 80 year old Mum after she had a fall (off-site). Thank you very much to everyone from Haigs for looking after her, we are extremely grateful. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas.
