Azenhas do Mar West Coast Design & Surf

We are staying in one of the villas, #12. Everything has been perfect since we’ve arrived. Carlos has been very responsive when we have questions. He has sent us recommendations for restaurants, shopping and cafes which we appreciated. The villa is so adorable with a great vibe. The bed and pillows are comfortable and smell fantastic. Very clean and nicely decorated. Great views too. We would definitely stay here again.

We almost had a perfect stay. However, a couple of hours after leaving the villa we were contacted by the host who accused us almost immediately of stealing a Marshall speaker. He told me that the Marshall speaker was placed underneath the TV. I explained that there was no Marshall speaker in the apartment when we arrived the day before (we stayed just for one night to celebrate a birthday) , so naturally we didn't take anything. I even explained that we watched some Netflix on the previous night so it would have been hard to miss a speaker had there been one.  The owner was very aggressive and rude, accusing us almost straight away, both by text message and when I later called him on the phone. Moreover, his story was contradictory: he said for one that he had put the speaker there himself on the day we arrived (Friday, January 28th) and on the other hand that it could only had been us or the person staying there before us that could have taken it. As you can probably understand, that contradicts his initial statement that he put it there himself on the day we arrived.  I don't know what happened but I certainly do not appreciate being accused of something I did not do (would anyone?). We went to that appartement to celebrate a birthday, and this accusation has completely ruined our day and our stay. I explained to the owner this and offered to come back to the appartement so we could speak in person and I would even let him check our car and our bags, because we have nothing to hide. He dismissed my offer and said that the situation was already reported and the insurance will be actioned. He also told me that he had reported that we would not be welcomed back into his houses.  I find this a complete lack of respect and the owner clearly had no interest in speaking to us, only accusing, without a single evidence that we did anything wrong. We left the appartement cleaned and in perfect state when we left. I don't imagine someone that spends 100€ for one night stay to have any interest in stealing a speaker. I would like an apology from the host, although the level of arrogance displayed leads me to believe that there won't be one, even if he realizes he was wrong in the end. Don't stay here, the views are indeed amazing, but you might be accused of stealing something the day after, I don't think it's worth it. I have since contacted Booking (the website I used to reserve), and I am waiting their feedback on this.
