Le Moulin de la Follaine

OMG!!! Where do i begin?! This place is one of a kind! Nestled on a private island with streams on either sides, a gorgeous home built over a watermill, beautiful and huge lawns to find your own private corner, hosts that are most caring and above all 4 adorable cats!!! This is as atmospheric as it can get!!! We stayed 3 nights in the beautiful Belfroi room (family of 3). Its spacious, well done up, great bathroom and has 2 big windows with for cross ventilation. There is also an air-condition which we did not need to use. The Belfroi room is on the 2nd floor, a bit of a climb - afterall you are in a home built on the watermill. :) There is a tea and coffee maching in a tiny lounge outside the room on the same floor. The breakfasts were delicious - bakery products, local produce - cheese, honey, rillettes, crepes and ofcourse juice, tea and coffee - everything was delicious and served with the nicest crockery and cutlery. The hosts, Sabine and Jean-Luc are very warm and affectionate - it's like walking into the home of your favourite relative or friend. We were touched when Jean-Luc insisted on us having breakfast despite us having a very early departure to the airport. Azay-Sur-Indre is a very cute village and Loches, a short 20 minutes drive is a delightful town. This property also sits in the background of a Chateau - just adding to the overall charm. We loved spending time with the four adorable cats - Repeto, Flash, Inewa and Mervin and we are delighted to be able to put a pin on the world map! While the Loire Valley is special, it is our stay here made our experience even more precious and memorable!

Difficult acces Difficult acces to the room by steep staircase.

Wonderful place We had a wonderful holiday at le moulin de la follaine. Its a calm and quiet, lush place and a great location from which you can travel to all the wonders of the pays Loire. We stayed at the gite, resembling a cute cottage, for a week and a half. There is a beautiful private garden when you rent the gite, but the whole premise (pond included) is accessible, very pretty and filled with animals such as 4 great cats, geese and chickens. The hosts were welcoming and accomodating. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Beautiful property and stunning grounds. Very spacious room with a bath and shower. Lovely and clean. Tasty breakfast with fruit and pastries. Bit of a language barrier between French and English but we managed to communicate well enough. Great location as a base for exploring the Loire region. Just 20 odd minutes drive from Chenonceau and amboise. 10 minutes from Loches and an hour from Chambord. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend!

We verbleven hier drie dagen en mochten onze auto 14 dagen laten staan tijdens onze fietstocht. Heerlijk om terug te komen.

Acceuil, parc, chambres, petits déjeuners, tout est parfait. Jean-luc et Sabine sont à vos soins. Ils sont présents et très discrets. Un lieu très reposant et très beau. L endroit idéal pour pause si escapade à vélo entre deux visites de châteaux. Vivement mon prochain sejour.
