Beautiful La Mirande hotel in Avignon I stayed in La Miranda during early November for 8 nights. This is the third times staying in this same hotel, every time I came Avignon I stayed in La Mirande. I think it is the best hotel in Avignon. Located in center of Avignon. The reception team is helpful, friendly and considerate, always made me feel like home. The staffs Melina & Anthony both have a high standard for serving hotel guest in all aspect. The house keeping team is excellent, morning and evening times when I came back to hotel, always tidy and towels changed, bottle water prepared. The house keeping ladies are very polite too. The room is excellent well decorated, comfortable and very quiet in evening times. I tried their La Restaurant inside the hotel, that's amazing French Gastronomy dinning experience by renowned chef Florent. Breakfast's place is beautiful, outside is garden. Their lobby is my favour spot in the hotel, charming and cozy for reading or relaxing, Tea cake choices during tea time is excellent too, a lot tea choices. The hotel itself is not a fancy luxury hotel, it is prestige, sophisticated, and luxury in a subtle way.

La Mirande isn't without a few faults, but I found the property itself so beautiful and charming that it's hard to give it anything but 5 stars. The courtyard, lobby, and rooms are all really stunning and full of character, and it was just a great place to relax in between exploring the amazing historic sites Avignon has to offer, all of which are within walking distance. One word of warning: it really is better not to drive here, but rather simply park outside the city walls somewhere and walk to the hotel. The hotel doesn't make it at all clear what a mission it is to get there, although granted it may have been significantly worse than usual given I arrived during a festival. My gripes with the hotel: they were unable to accommodate me for dinner, and the WiFi in my room (22) was really terrible - weak at the best of times, sometimes not working at all. By far the best thing about the hotel: the resident cat (pictured), Miranda, who is a creature of infinite poise and majesty. She prances about knowing that she owns the place, living a life of absolute luxury, getting doted on by the staff, and she is a delight to watch.

A stay at La Miranda Hotel is reason enough to visit Avignon. The fact that it is in the centre of the historic walled city of Avignon and 20 metres from the amazing Papal Palace is a ‘bonus’. The hotel is a historic building, with rooms around a central courtyard. The rooms are perfectly in keeping with the essence of the hotel. They are not modern. But they are stunningly beautiful. The bed was comfortable and ‘electronic conveniences’ are all discreetly in place. The restaurant is an incredible culinary experience. We lost count of the number of courses, but all were deliciously interesting; with outstanding service. Breakfast selection and quality is excellent and was served in a beautiful room, looking out over the garden and up at the Palace. Afternoon tea (served in the central courtyard) is another ‘not-to-be-missed’ highlight. Service at the hotel was excellent with the concierge very helpfully organising for us a morning city-tour and a car/driver for a quick trip to see the extraordinary Pont du Gard.

Amazing experience and amazing staff. We were there for the Christmas market and it was such a lovely atmosphere. Looking forward to come back soon! Special mention to Lucas, the manager, who made sure all time long that we were enjoying the experience.

We loved the historic ambiance of this hotel. The staff is welcoming and professional. Nicely appointed room with a view of the Popes Palace. The Michelin star restaurant needs some attention however. It was glaringly obvious the restaurant lack sufficient staff to meet the needs of the clientele throughout the dinner. Water and wine glasses stayed empty and we felt ignored by most of the staff. Six courses timed well but: fish side sauce too salty; side sauce to the scallop dish was odd-tasting; no palate cleanse dish between meat and dessert; two ice cream desserts at the same time lacked imagination; the Mt Blanc lacked structure; and why were we served dried out chestnuts at the end? I conclude that the restaurant runs on complacency...do better!
