Bethells Beach Cottages

Amazing place with breathtaking views, given the location on the hill, you can see the beach and the sea. Cottage is very cosy and homely and house surrounding land very well taken care of. Trud and John were very kind and helpful hosts. We stayed only one night, but immediately decided to come back.

While travelling around New Zealand we had the good fortune to stay with Trude and John. The homely cottages, complete with big comfy bed were well equipped and ours had a lovely view from the kitchen and garden patio. John had a wealth of knowledge on local walks, which we used to plan our days. Coming back after exploring to sit on the lawn and watch the stunning sunset, while listening to the birds and waves crash below was out of this world . What made our stay though was Trude and John, nothing was too much trouble, we felt right at home and enjoyed listening to their stories. This place is a gem which Trude and John have poured their love in to, we highly recommend.

This hidden gem is the starting point. There are four unique character fulled cottages on offer , they have been our base many a time over the many years. In essence our time here is fulled soaking up natures energy that leaves you admiring the dunes to the sea the stars to the bush.. Your hosts are equally unique authentic and with a great big dollop of freedom only had from living in such a heavenly position.. The cottages feel like an extension of your freedom so like us be yourselves explore the north beach end caves walk through the dunes where it is ok to do so , plus the many bush walks, swim inbetween the flags or just lay down on the grass and fall asleep… Welcome to Te Henga

Friends of ours had their beautiful summer wedding here several years ago and the wedding party booked the cottages for their weekend. We booked for a few nights to getaway and experience some peace and tranquility without the long drive. Bethells Beach can be a bit gnarly and wild in the winter.. just what the doctor ordered!😊 We booked the the 1 bedroom ‘Turehu’ cottage directly from their website which suited us perfectly. BBC has two other beautiful cottages all boasting incredible views and facilities. Our hosts Trudy and John have a lot of time and energy into their property ensuring guests have a truly magnificent experience. Cottages are quirky and quaint, bathrooms and bedroom, lounge and patio are spacious and complete with outdoor fire. There is a full kitchen with everything you need to cook up a feast! We opted to take our own food and beverage however Trudy will cook delicious meals if this is booked in advance. John is a man of land and will be happy to share stories and knowledge of the area. We enjoyed lovely walks on the beach, open fires at our cottage, and star gazing in the hot tub at night. The West Coast has a lot to offer for the hard core explorers and my feeling is the Bethells Beach Community are doing their best offer this despite the many summer storms that have ravaged the area. The only disappointment was we had to come back to Auckland city. We’ll be back for sure !!

This is an incredible place to relax and unwind. A beautiful location with stunning views overlooking the beach. The little cottage was warm and cozy with the sun streaming in throughout the day. Cooking on the outdoor BBQ as the sun sets over the ocean below was magic and soaking in the hot tub under the stars before bed made for extra deep sleeping. A great stay.

Das Cottage liegt an einem Traumstrand mit gigantischem Ausblick auf das Meer. Die Pflanzen rundherum sind sehr gepflegt und toll angelegt. Das Cottage ist leider total runtergekommen und dreckig. Wir waren zum Glück nur eine Nacht dort, die ich wach verbracht habe, da ich keine Luft bekommen habe. Es lässt sich im Schlafbereich kein Fenster öffnen und es riecht muffig und schimmelig. Die Handtücher waren verschimmelt, das Geschirr klebte und überall war Staub und Dreck. Die Dusche war voll Grünspan und das gesamte Bad alles andere als einladend. Nie wieder!!!
