The Gleneagles Hotel

The whole experience of staying at Gleneagles cannot be fully described it is an experience to cherish. I first stayed at Gleneagles when I was 21 and had several of my friends join me. This time 60 years on was special as I was joined by my daughters and their families

We had a fantastic stay at Gleneagles with our young family (2 and 4 year olds) and can’t recommend it enough! The hotel is an easy drive from the airport (we rented a car and had no trouble with parking right on site), which made arrival stress-free. One of the highlights for us was the wide open lawn - perfect for letting the kids run around and enjoy the sunshine (we got so lucky with the weather!). The Little Glen nursery room was a huge bonus - such a thoughtful, family-friendly feature where we could drop the kids for a bit of fun while we relaxed or had a quiet meal. Everything at Gleneagles was spotlessly clean, and the service was top-notch from start to finish. The breakfast spread was unreal, and the room service was just as impressive - definitely not your typical hotel food. The location also made it really easy to take day trips to explore nearby towns and countryside. We were able to enjoy the hotel and still see a lot of Scotland. Can’t wait to return someday!

I was lucky enough to win a night bed and breakfast generously gifted to NHS by the hotel. Entire 24 hours was absolute luxury. From our warm and friendly welcome at reception by Douglas, to our stunning room and the luxury of a turn down service. Fantastic steak at the Dormy restaurant in relaxing environment then delicious cocktails in both the American bar and the Century bar. Particularly good service from the lovely Melvin in the century bar but every single staff member was polite, helpful and friendly. Made good use of the 3 pools this morning followed by a breakfast fit for Kings! 2 exceptionally nice young waiters looked after us at breakfast in the Strathearn restaurant and couldn't do enough for us. All in all a night of utter luxury and pampering in the most beautiful hotel. Thank you all xx

Have been to Gleneagles many times and it never disappoints. The quality and standards are exceptional. We had a spa day with lunch included which was lovely. The Spa is such a treat and our massages were incredible. The lunch was 2 courses and food was delicious. We had a lovely room in the hotel with a gorgeous roll top bath. Drinks in the bar were lovely and again dinner in the Strathearn restaurant was incredible, definitely recommend the wellington!! Breakfast included everything you could imagine and topped off by glorious weather it was a lovely Mother’s Day treat.

Received a voucher from friends as a treat for afternoon tea. We were placed in the middle of the room which felt as if it was a corridor. Tables and chairs are all at the wrong height to dine. Surely these would have been tested out (clearly not) Chairs extremely uncomfortable, we observed every one coming in and they all had the same issue, trying to adjust their chairs which caught on the carpet and everyone was shuffling around constantly uncomfortable. The food was quite frankly appalling quality. I cannot believe the food was made in a Gleneagles kitchen by pastry chefs as I could make better myself. My incoming is it is all being bought in as Very artificial flavours. When the cake stand was brought over there was far too much for 2 people to eat so asked if they could be boxed up for us to take home, which they were, however we could not believe how bad they tasted. Even more artificial than the savoury selection. At £78/head for a few savoury bites and very poor quality sweet cakes, scones etc and a small pot of tea. Extremely disappointing. The whole hotel now appears to be Butlins in a shiny wrapper. Extremely naff and full of quite unpleasant people. Such a shame. Had considered booking a room for the night beforehand. So glad we didn’t. Will not be returning to Gleneagles.

This place is actually 5 star. I worked in a 5 star hotel and it was no where near as opulent & well catered as this one. All the staff are helpful, polite and have an eye for detail. The rooms are spacious, the bed very comfortable with feather duvet & pillows and the amenities are great. The in room mini bar is well stocked but remember the only things that are complimentary are the water, tea, coffee and milk - the shortbread fingers are extra! We had dinner in The Birnam cocktails in the American bar (which is closed Monday & Tuesday) and drinks in the Century bar. The prices are expensive but the level of service and the quality of the food and drink was worth it. There are 3 pools, 1 hot outdoor swim/spa pool and 2 indoor - 1 adults only including sauna & steam. Towels, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, make up remover, toner & moisturiser all provided in the clean changing areas. Plenty of free onsite parking or valet parking if you prefer plus an outdoor food area (The Chicken Coop) which is currently serving chicken, chips etc on the lawn. Our whole stay was fabulous.
