State House Inn

This hotel seemed a good value but we had a major issue. After several tries, even the staff could not get the key card to work. Another room was provided but unfortunately, we could not access medication, feminine hygiene products, toiletries, food/water. I deducted points from the service score as we were left without updates as to when maintenance would assist us. Trip customer service reported that nobody would answer the phone when they tried to assist us. It was not until I inquired that were were informed were would be locked out until the next morning. As a result, I had to go out and purchase necessities. Despite the cost and inconvenience all Trip.com offered was $5 in coins, which is unacceptable. The hotel said they would refund to our card but since we booked Trip the couldn't do anything. That said, the staff was courteous and professional, one staff member even loaned us a phone charge cable which was appreciated. The room itself was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and this was the best part of the stay. Breakfast: I don't recommend the breakfast. The offerings were very similar to other hotels but preparation seems to be the weak link. For example, the sausage appeared to have just thawed and was colder than room temp. The eggs were watery with brown chunks in them, perhaps from scorching the bottom. TLDR: Our needs were minimal and without our difficulties with the key cards and breakfast this would have been a good value. It's concerning that a hotel doesn't have a way to access a room in an emergency scenario.

Checked into a queen suite. There was a cashew visible under the edge of the couch as i walked in; A used washcloth hanging on the top shower curtain rail; A big hairball tumbleweed on the bathroom floor; Another hair when i pulled back the sheets on the bed. The previous coffee pod was still in the room coffee maker. Ice machine was broken, no sign to indicate as much. No coffee in the lobby, just an empty pot.

Tried to check in early and that was a no go. Got there 2 hours after the schedule check in time and a room still wasn’t ready. Beds are madly uncomfortable and we were only given two very small pillows. Customer service was trash. Won’t be returning.

Located downtown Springfield, short walking distance to attractions. Hotel was clean and offered free hot breakfast. My room was cold, no heat came throughout the vent. Coffee machine in room didn’t have a coffee pot. Asked for a late check out on a Sunday and was given only 30 minutes later.

When we checked in our room was not clean. There was dust everywhere, the coffee machine was filthy, there was garbage on the floor and the bathroom was not clean. I called to have housekeeping come in to clean the room, I was told I would receive a call in a minute and then did not receive a call back. I went down to the lobby 30 minutes later where another guest was waiting for the front desk for over 20 minutes. She said that the tv in her room was completely off the wall & her A/C is not working. I then approached a man in a golf polo and baseball cap who was opening up the bar area and asked if someone was working, he said he was and I asked if someone could clean our room. He then went to the front desk and talked with the other guest about her problems however he was unable to log into the computer thus serving no purpose. Overall, this has been the worst hotel I have stayed at and would give negative stars as I would rather sleep in my car compared to how the service and cleanliness is a ZERO. Do not stay here, this place is just like the saying you can’t shine sh*t and man this place is the dumps.

The room I was given hadn’t been cleaned from former guests (towels on floor, beds unmade, etc). When I came back downstairs to ask for a clean room I discovered other guests had the same issue. In the room I stayed in the tv didn’t work and it was pretty run down. There were 10 people (8 rooms) in our group and all but 1 had a terrible experience. I do NOT recommend this property to anyone, even if it was inexpensive (which it was not).

The facility/anppearances are nice. Check in was slow due to one person to check in multiple people. She did the best she could. There was no hand soap for the bathroom. There were no cups in the room to make coffee and one coffee. In the morning when requesting cups, I was directed to the coffee near the desk which also had no cup nor coffee. So the desk person spent a while getting coffee packets and cups to use in my room and then received only decaf. Other people were also looking for coffee to find none. After waiting for breakfast to open, we went down to find no coffee at the desk and got the last half cup at the breakfast. Sad- had to walk several blocks to Starbucks to get a coffee. Frustrating and will not stay here again.

It was perfect for what I needed for the night. The room looked like it was recently remodeled. Could probably use some better housekeeping and toiletries, but it served me well. Exterior needs a pressure washing and makeover.

Got there at 6:00 pm. Room wasn’t ready. Room was dirty, especially the bathroom. Sink stopper was broken, so dirty sink filled with water when you used it. Someone tried to get in at 9 and said they had already checked into the same room at 4:30. Hard to find anyone at front desk to help you. No one to clean up breakfast area, trash overflowing. Front desk person was overwhelmed and annoyed. Other guests were sharing experiences equal or worse than ours.
