My recent six-night stay at the W Aspen, made possible through points and shared with friends, left me with mixed feelings that reflect the highs and lows of this upscale establishment. Upon arrival, the gesture of offering prosecco at the check-in desk was a pleasant touch, although I would have preferred it served in a glass rather than a plastic cup. Despite encountering some challenges with my reservations due to the hotel's stringent cancellation policy, the staff efficiently accommodated my requests, allowing me to switch to a more desirable room on a higher floor after the initial night. As an Ambassador elite member, I appreciated the personalized attention extended to me, including the opportunity to tour alternative rooms and select one that better suited my preferences. The breakfast buffet, a highlight for elite members, was truly delightful, boasting a diverse selection of fresh and savory options that catered to discerning tastes. Throughout my stay, the housekeeping and turndown services were consistently impeccable, complemented by thoughtful amenities like quality bath products and indulgent chocolates. The hotel's strategic location, while not offering ski-out convenience, proved convenient for accessing Aspen's attractions. I was particularly impressed by the hotel's responsiveness to my needs after sustaining an injury while skiing, promptly providing a wheelchair for my comfort and convenience. Moreover, overhearing the hotel's general manager express his vision for elevating the guest experience underscored the team's commitment to excellence and community engagement. However, my overall impression was tempered by a few notable shortcomings. The malfunctioning hot tub throughout my stay was disappointing, and hearing about welcome amenities received by other guests but not extended to me felt like a missed opportunity to enhance my experience. Furthermore, the lack of privacy in the first-floor rooms, especially considering the premium price point, is a notable concern that warrants attention. The resort fee, coupled with parking charges, felt disproportionately high given the value provided. Despite these drawbacks, I remain open to revisiting the W Aspen in the future, acknowledging the luxury it offers amidst areas ripe for improvement. Ultimately, my stay was characterized by both positive and negative experiences, highlighting the hotel's potential for delivering a truly exceptional guest experience.
