My daughter and I decided to treat ourselves to the “Mid week Spa experience for 2 Spa Day which was £100 each. Having been today, we are wondering how on earth they justify that cost?? The £100 doesn’t include any food or drink whatsoever, we weren’t even offered so much as a glass of water on arrival when we sat down to fill in the consent forms. We “upgraded” and paid £22.50 each extra for lunch, to be given the choice of a toastie, omelette & chips, or a salad, and either fresh fruit platter or raspberry meringue tart to follow. To be fair the main courses were reasonable, but the fruit platter was meant to come with mango sorbet which they forgot, and the pastry case of the raspberry tart was tough as old boots. £45 for the 2 of us and not even a soft drink included. So for your £100 a head, you get the use of the one tired looking pool that’s crowded if there were more than 2 of you in it, a steam room, a sauna and a jacuzzi. Although the jacuzzi wasn’t working on the day we visited. To give them their dues they had phoned us the day before to tell us this and offer to change to a different date, but this was the only date the both of us could do so we stuck with it. But no offer of a reduction in price or even a complimentary drink by way of apology. We did both have a back & shoulder massage which was okay, nothing special, just a basic massage oil used as I didn’t smell any scents at all. In and out in 20 minutes, when advertised as 25 minutes. There is meant to be complimentary coffee in the Amber lounge but when we went in there at 11am the machine wasn’t even switched on, there were no cups, and no glasses for the water. We left immediately after lunch as there was nothing else to do. We were so disappointed, paying that much a head we were expecting so much more. Next time we’re going the local swimming pool and a Wetherspoons afterwards. It’ll be a lot cheaper and more choice of food.
