Portavadie Loch Fyne Scotland

Portavadie is a beautiful place we use the marina and facilities on a regular basis, staff and food are excellent:-) the only downside is do not bring your phone into the spa and leisure the staff will treat you like a criminal for having or looking at your phone.

Warm March sunshine, clear blue skies welcomed us to this stunning location! An amazing Spa experience by the loch, before a simple check in to our Lodge room. Immaculate! Had time for a beautiful evening walk along the Shore Path before the tastiest evening meal and 'MasterChef standard' dessert. A peaceful, comfortable night's sleep, on a huge bed, and good breakfast in the morning. Wow! Will definitely come back and also recommend to others.

We were lucky that the weather was warm at the end of December to get there. The journey was exciting but probably impassable with snow and slippery conditions. You are in a place with great nature! You could clean and repair the standard lodge bathrooms better. Please light the way from the lodge to the restaurant! Dinner was delicious and nice but more enjoyable with music, without dogs, kids and large groups. The best waiter is Alastair. Spa experience for 30 pounds could have a separate dressing room and private hydropool upstairs. Good home away from home if you eliminate some of the drawbacks. Good luck to you!

We had a great time, just wished there was an option to have apartment earlier, even if a charge was on offer to allow us time to settle, as it was an overnight stay, just felt pressure to book time for spa use and restaurant. I’m timed in my job everyday and wanted away from that. Spa was half opened due to one life guard, couldn’t have an actual swim after driving 2h 30 mins. Everything was spotless. Very warm in all areas, friendly staff, food was lovely, setting stunning.

The comfort and convenience of our townhouse was first class. Marius and his team in the restaurant were extremely professional and attentive and made our experience very special. The one negative I have to highlight was the tired condition of the spa area. The jacuzzi pool was in need of an upgrade and £30 per resident was excessive for what was on offer. Perhaps the website could be clearer as to what you are paying for. As we had a sauna in the townhouse we would not have used and paid for this if we had known the only additional service for us would be the steam room.

Having stayed at Portavadie several times this was our least favourite visit. Check in staff were friendly and our room was clean and comfortable, although there was no information booklet which would have been beneficial. (No info on wifi, surrounding area etc.) We booked into the spa on the second day of our stay and wanted to use the leisure facilities on the day we arrived. Unfortunately we were told we should have booked in to use the facilities (which was disappointing as we had already booked spa facilities, dinner and breakfast time when booking, so it would have been good to know this was also required) but thankfully the staff were able to squeeze us in. The staff also confirmed our times for the spa the next day and were very helpful and friendly. The leisure facilities themselves are nice however the changing area is unclean, especially the floor, which is incredibly off putting and makes you not want to walk around through dirty water. We also faced a problem when arriving for the spa the next day as it appeared our time (that had also been confirmed the day prior) was incorrect and we were not scheduled to attend for another few hours, again thankfully the team were able to "fit us in". The spa was nice if not a little dated and it appears the tiles in the spa infinity pool could do with a good scrub. There was also a very off putting smell on the robes provided, almost as if they had been left damp for several hours before drying, which was disappointing. The dining facilities were also disappointing and expensive. We wanted to have a drink before dinner and enjoy the sun, and had asked to move one of the many tables in the shade to a sunny area, one member of staff was happy to do this but the other was not, again a bit disappointing but not the end of the world. We were asked to pay for drinks when ordering at the till, which was a bit disjointed and awkward (the staff knew our room number and were aware we were staying for dinner), especially as we stood around trying to choose what to order. We ordered some snacks with drinks that never arrived and had to spend some tim to catch the staffs attention during dinner. Overall our stay was pleasant but disappointing, and lacked any sort of "finesse".
