What an incredible place with such a rich history! Reception was wonderful. Very helpful with recommendations. We had one of our favorite dinners ever in the restaurant with wonderful service and delicious local food, wine, and whiskey. Great bed, shower, and view of the square with church bells ringing. Loved looking at all the historic pictures and knick knacks. We loved Appenzell, and highly recommend Romantik Hotel Santis!

We were part of a tour group and the hotel was just perfect. We had a huge room and bathroom, with a walk in shower which was just so appreciated. Dinner and breakfasts were excellent with a wide variety of options available. The staff were efficient and friendly. Perfect location for the old town (so many little shops and restaurants to explore) and a couple of supermarkets within walking distance. Would definitely stay here again.

I am a travel agent and have twice now brought a group of 30 Americans to this hotel with a tour company. Both times rooms and keys were ready upon arrival and we were happily received. Reception as always - was most pleasant. Evening group dinner was great and the waiter was truly a delight. I have stayed alone with my husband at this hotel several times many years ago and love their rooms, each one carefully and lovingly decorated. As for the breakfast - of course it is European, with excellent bread, butter, eggs, jams and cheeses. I would certainly recommend this hotel - even thought there is construction going on next door - which does not happen at night so no worries about sleeping - and during the day you should be out and about exploring anyway.

We have just returned home to the UK after a really enjoyable 7 night stay at Romantik Hotel Santis. It is a beautiful traditional hotel in an excellent location and we found everything about the hotel to our liking. The Hotel and our room were kept exceptionally clean, the food was five star and all the staff were very helpful and friendly with nothing being too much trouble. The Hotel clearly benefits from the personal hands on of the owners. Our room was spacious, tastefully decorated and furnished, with a modern bathroom and everything a guest would require. As we were staying longer than three nights we were issued with Appenzeller tourist cards, which gave free access to three different cable ways, the local transport, and the museum, quite a nice perk when staying in Swizerland as things can be expensive. I have travelled to Switzerland on over thirty different occasions and found this hotel up with the best. It was my first visit to this particular area of Switzerland. Would I go back? Yes certainly in a heartbeat and I would also stay at this hotel.

Great local food choices, great services and great location. You are in the middle of the little town Appenzell that has so much history and character, it’s just fun to watch the people! Fabian was our waiter who was so attentive and fun, adorable and really cared about our needs!

The Appenzell area is a gorgeous rural area with phenomenal scenery. The hotel and town are traditional Swiss architecture with a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff was friendly and the rooms comfortable. This was our favorite area in Switzerland 🇨🇭.

We had a 5-course dinner including a selection of different wines. The food was delicious, but let me tell you this: This place is a MUST for every wine lover!!! The wine menu resembles a holy scripture and you will find everything you could ever dream of! I had the opportunity to see the cellar and my heart was beating faster than when I last fell in love with a woman! I am still dreaming about it to this day!

We were able to have a delicious dinner from the seasonal fall menu. The traditional interior and charming ambiance, supported the dinner perfectly. It was perfect escape from the busy outside world. Great experience overall!

I think getting sleep at a hotel is important. This hotel argues about that. Beware — Rooms in the front overlook restaurant open until 11:00 at night and drinkers stay later than that. (Glad that people can enjoy.) Rooms at back are next to construction project. Reception desk said it was my fault because I didn’t tell them I wanted to sleep. Summary — great location but avoid if sleeping is on your agenda.
