One thing that this hotel gets right is the staff, they were lovely.... however: In my opinion, this is not a 4* hotel. There are a choice of salt water pools which I found were a bit grubby, especially round the edges where in some places they were sticky to touch. I didn't see anyone cleaning them, and the larger pool had plant debris and bugs floating in it everywhere. The sun beds (although there were plenty) were the most uncomfortable I have ever used in any hotel, some of them sagged and there were a number of ripped and dirty parasols. After a day at the pool I was aching everywhere. The rooms were clean but (in my opinion) the beds and pillows were uncomfortable and the air conditioning was really loud. As it was so hot in the rooms and having a ground floor bungalow, leaving the door open was not an option so we had to leave the air con on all night, which meant broken sleep. The food was awful... never hot. I understand that this is common in most AI hotels where it is a buffet style, but even if staff had just replenished a dish, it was cold, as if it had been left without heat for some time. I am not a picky eater and I am happy to have something like toast and eggs for breakfast, but the fried eggs were undercooked, the poached eggs were mostly overcooked and the scrambled eggs were liquid slop, just awful... the juice was just like very weak cordial...thank the lord for the pizza and crepe stations as we used that a lot instead of getting breakfast, although we got sick of that quite quickly. We didn't try the fish restaurant, but the other a la carte was lovely, really nice (hot) food in there. The hotel boasts that the main restaurant is open until 4 am, we went it around 12:30 one night, and apart from bread (left exposed) and a bit of salad, there was no food left... no meat, cheese or hot food was available. The entertainment was poor, an Italian animation team, therefore all the entertainment was in Italian, the only time we were approached, and asked if we wanted to join in with anything was when a big number of Italian guests went home, before that you were just ignored. There was a massive problem getting seats in the main bar area at night, it was a mad scramble and if you left to go for food etc, you are not getting another seat when you get back. The positives are that the grounds are well kept, the staff are great, but I have stayed in much cheaper 3* hotels and have enjoyed the food and entertainment more. I was very optimistic about this hotel as the reviews are so good, but was left disappointed as our stay didn't match the reviews.
