Pestana Alvor Beach Villas

My elderly parents stayed at the Pestana beach villas for 2 wks. They were really looking forward to their long awaited, hard earned holiday but were very disappointed. On arrival they had to wait nearly 4 hours before they could go to their apartment. They were aware that check in wasn't until 3pm but were told it would probably be possible earlier. My elderly parents had been travelling since 4 in the morning and were not permitted to enter their villa one minute before 3pm. Prior to their arrival I asked if I could see where they would be staying. I was refused but I was informed that I could request ground or first floor accommodation . I requested first floor but that wasn't granted. The accommodation itself was very poor, and in need of an up date. The minuscule kitchen was inadequately equipped. On multiple occasions they had no hot water in the mornings, having to have cold showers and treck over to reception to try to resolve the issue. They were supplied with shabby towels with holes. The access to the villa was a death trap, especially for elderly people coming back late at night in the dark, as the pavement outside was in a dreadful state of repair as my photos show. Mum fell on a large hole which had not been fenced off and was left exposed. Clearly there was maintenance being carried out, however my parents were misled regarding the extent of this when booking. Extremely poor level of care and poor standards.

Lovely hotel. Greeted by a very friendly receptionist. Pool area is beautiful and the staff at the bar are friendly, helpful and efficient. Special nod to Ricardo and Cecilia. Room small but bed very comfortable. Opted for a sea view which is lovely

Fantastic accommodation in a great location right on the beach. The villas were perfect for a family great space, immaculate and everything you could need. All the staff were very friendly and the buffet breakfast was fabulous. Would definitely recommend.

This is satisfactory to us and we have therefore provided an updated review reflecting this positive customer service after our stay* Original review - Start with positives - the pool area accessible at Pestana dom joao as well as the breakfast included here with the pestana Alvor beach villas were very good. The gym was adequate here at dom joao too. Unfortunately the villa itself in pestana alvor beach villas was really disappointing. Walls were stained & in need of repaint. Damaged kitchen table & strange stains on windows. Bathroom units damaged. Rusty window fixings. Gaps beneath wall letting in ants. Overall very unloved accommodation, Beds & linen & kitchen were well cleaned by staff. Villa was not ready at check in time Staff response was that between check out & check in time it was a big villa to clean - 1) they aren’t big 2) not really the guest’s problem! The pool area at pestana alvor beach villas is dated with weeds & cracked tiles. There are unused abandoned buildings & broken fences. The grounds are a mess. Feels like a forgotten holiday location. Despite all this these are not inexpensive villas….. Avoid! Book a nice villa somewhere else instead! *As per update information hotel management did make contact after our stay and offered suitable recompense in our opinion*

Old and degraded infrastructure. Blocked drains. Slow to address our complains, 3 days to unblock drains after informing reception. If you away from pool for 45 mins for lunch or going to beach, your towels/clothes are removed. No value for money really

As the title says, this was my first trip abroad with my two Great Granddaughters, ( aged 3 and 4) along with my Granddaughter. I have visited Alvor many times before but have never previously booked half board. I chose the Pestana Beach Villas, as I knew that it is alongside a beautiful sandy beach. A huge bonus was the two swimming pools, only a 100 metres from our villa. There are another two pools at the Dom João hotel, next door, where we ate our meals. The villa had everything that we could possibly expect for a comfortable stay. The breakfast buffet was really extensive and well stocked. The staff were all friendly and helpful, which made the whole experience a delight. We ate Dinner early, so that the children could be put to bed at their usual time. All in all, we could not fault anything about the trip.
